NXT TakeOver Stand and Deliver Night One Predictions:
NXT Tag Team Championships: MSK vs. Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Legado del Fantasma
In a match between Finn Balor, Karrion Kross, and the former NXT Tag Team Champions Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, Burch suffered an injury that resulted in them having to relinquish the championships. As a result of that, MSK, Grizzled Young Veterans, and Legado del Fantasma have all been given the opportunity to fight for the vacant championships in a triple threat match. MSK won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and remain undefeated in their NXT careers, making them the clear favorites heading into this one. The Grizzled Young Veterans are former NXT UK Tag Team Champions and have made it to the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic back-to-back years, so their pedigree is established. And then there is Legado del Fantasma’s Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza, who has impressed in any opportunity they have been given.
This match is not only guaranteed to crown a new champion but a contender to be the match of the night for night one. It really could go any way which makes it that much more enticing for fans.
Prediction: MSK
NXT United Kingdom Championship: WALTER (c) vs. Tommaso Ciampa
When Imperium took an interest in Timothy Thatcher because of their past history outside of NXT as the group, Ringkampf, one had to think Thatcher’s new partner Tommaso Ciampa was going to take exception. And since then, Thatcher has seemingly disappeared from television while Ciampa has made it his goal to take out all of Imperium. And he came pretty close, taking out Alexander Wolfe, Fabian Aichner, and defeating Marcel Barthel in singles action. But little did he know that NXT United Kingdom Champion, WALTER, was in the United States to take care of his group, That has led to this first-time-ever matchup. Ciampa has quickly become interested in the championship that WALTER has held for over 700 days.
And for good reason, considering WALTER ripped off the necklace of Ciampa and disrespected him in the middle of the ring. Ciampa has an opportunity to become the first man to hold both the NXT and NXT UK Championships on Wednesday night. That being said, WALTER has yet to be defeated and will more than likely walk out still champion.
Prediction: WALTER
NXT Women’s Championship: Io Shirai (c) vs. Raquel Gonzalez
Finally, the rightful main event. Io Shirai has been one of the most dominant champions in NXT history and she has the names to prove it. Perhaps, it is the list of names that she has defeated over the past year that is most impressive when looking at her rise to the top of the black and gold brand. Whether it be defeating Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley to become champion or beating Sasha Banks in singles action or most recently besting Toni Storm, someone who she had not defeated in singles action before when it comes to her time in WWE. Now she takes on what many believe her greatest challenge yet in Raquel Gonzalez. Over the past year, Gonzalez has gone from Dakota Kai‘s essential bodyguard to one of the best in all of NXT and has the resume to prove it. Shirai has shown little to no fear, making this must-see.
It is a match that can go either way. Will it be “The Joshi Judas” who walks out #AndStill or will “Big Mami Cool” put her name in the history books as the new NXT Women’s Champion? It goes down this Wednesday night.
Prediction: Raquel Gonzalez
