“The Instant Classic” Christian Cage will be making his highly-anticipated All Elite Wrestling in-ring debut on next week’s AEW Dynamite and he’s ready to “Out. Work. Everyone.” Cage will go up against one of the most innovative athletes wrestling has ever seen: a familiar foe in the form of Frankie Kazarian. Since debuting at AEW Revolution, many fans have been wondering who will be the first person to go up against the returning Cage. They will not have to wait much longer, as Kazarian has stepped up to the plate. Fans will be in for a great matchup, as these two have shared history dating back over a decade. Let’s take a deep dive into this very exciting bout ahead of this upcoming Wednesday Night Dynamite.

Flux Capacitor: Frankie Kazarian
Frankie Kazarian has been consistently amazing throughout his career spanning 23 years. He’s not about to slow down anytime soon, either. The veteran has competed in many promotions and has succeeded at each stop. He is a former five-time X-Division Champion as well as a multiple-time Tag Team Champion in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, now known as IMPACT Wrestling. It was here he fought his opponent for this upcoming Dynamite on many occasions. In his memorable run with the company, Kazarian would do high-flying feats that nobody has ever seen before. He was a “blink and you’ll miss it” type of competitor and fans tuned in for a guaranteed highlight courtesy of Kaz.
Kazarian would move on with Bad Influence partner Christopher Daniels, renaming themselves The Addiction in Ring of Honor. Kazarian would be one-half of the promotion’s tag team champions alongside Daniels. They would dominate and systematically decimate everyone that stood in their path and Kazarian was a huge part of this.
Fast forward years later, Kazarian would make history as one half of the first-ever AEW World Tag Team Champions with SoCal Uncensored stablemate Scorpio Sky. As an AEW Original, Kazarian felt the need to tell Christian Cage that his mantra “Out. Work. Everyone.” has been the very thing Kaz himself had been doing since day one in AEW. Not to mention, he and Daniels have been on quite a roll since the tail-end of last year. Kazarian considers himself as the workhorse of AEW; day in and day out, he’s there to fight and win. He’s not a fan of other people supposedly just walking in and taking a spot. Cage will have his hands full in his debut if Kazarian has anything to say about it.
Killswitch Engage: Christian Cage
It’s been seven long years since Christian Cage has legitimately stepped into a ring for a one-on-one contest. A concussion would temporarily halt his career and nobody expected him to be back in a wrestling ring ever again. Nonetheless, here he is, gearing up for his AEW in-ring debut against a very familiar face he has battled many times in the past. His “Peeps” could not be more excited to see “The Instant Classic” compete once more inside the squared circle. In short, Cage is ready to show everyone that he still has a lot left in the tank.
Many are expecting ring rust from “Captain Charisma,” but rest assured, he will make sure not to let anyone down. Jon Moxley said it himself in an interview with his wife Renee Paquette. Moxley said that Cage is one of the smartest, most talented men ever to lace up a pair of wrestling boots. Moxley thought he knew everything that he needed to know until stepping in between those ropes opposite Cage. This gave the former AEW World Champion a new perspective on what it really means to be a professional wrestler.
Christian Cage was never underrated. However, he is often underappreciated and overlooked. It would not be smart for Kazarian to think that Cage being away from the ring for a significant period of time will lead to an easy win. As the old adage goes, “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” but in this case, those old tricks are more than enough for Cage to again become the legitimate threat he once was.

Rivalry Renewed: Christian Cage vs. Frankie Kazarian on AEW Dynamite
Christian Cage is one of the most technically-sound wrestlers one will ever see. He could take an opponent to the ground and incapacitate them. He could also straight-up brutalize an opponent in a myriad of ways. On the opposite side of the ring, Frankie Kazarian is an innovative high-flyer who has aged gracefully like fine wine. He may take it to the air most times but people must realize that he is also a fine mat wrestler. They may not be as quick as they once were, but Cage and Kazarian are more experienced. This experience factor will be on full display for both men this Wednesday night. Cage might have a slight edge as far as experience goes. However, Kazarian has the benefit of consistently competing for over 20 straight years.
These two last met almost 14 years ago at TNA’s 2007 Genesis pay-per-view. In their Ladder Match, Frankie Kazarian would come out on top over Christian Cage. Will fans get a little dose of deja vu and see Kaz victorious once again or will Cage mark his momentous return with a win in his first shot at AEW?
