On this week’s episode of IMPACT Wrestling on AXS TV, IMPACT made it official that their next IMPACT Plus Special will indeed air on April 10th at the same time as WrestleMania 37 Day 1. This special will revive the old IMPACT PPV, Hardcore Justice.
Tommy Dreamer confronted IMPACT Commissioner Scott D’Amore over the upcoming absence of the IMPACT Tag Team Championships. FinJuice, who represented NJPW in defeating The Good Brothers for the tag titles at Sacrifice, announced on IMPACT that they will be returning to Japan until April, causing Dreamer to bring D’Amores leadership into question.

D’Amore then challenged Dreamer to book a show as commissioner himself, “if it’s so easy”. D’Amore officially gave Dreamer the book for Hardcore Justice, the first IMPACT event fully run by Dreamer. The frustrated and overwhelmed D’Amore also hoped Dreamer wouldn’t run the show into the ground like he and “Pauley D” did, referencing the collapse of Tommy Dreamer and Paul Heyman‘s ECW promotion in the early 2000s.
This will be the first time for Hardcore Justice since 2015 when the show aired as an IMPACT television special. The format was originally created in 2005 as a pay-per-view event every August before IMPACT moved to doing just 4 big pay per views a year in 2010.
The airing of the show during the biggest wrestling event of the year in WrestleMania is a questionable yet intriguing decision by IMPACT. While there is no way that the fledgling promotion will come anywhere close to the viewership of the wrestling superpower, it will be interesting to see how IMPACT will attempt to fill the show in an attempt to counterprogram even a minute fraction of viewers.
The intrigue increases as speculation grows concerning the possibility of AEW being involved in Hardcore Justice. This would be an exciting next installment in the overgrowing (though perhaps overhyped) wrestling war.
