#AndNEW: Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon Become NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions

Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon NXT tag team champions

On the same night that the inaugural champions were crowned, the titles changed hands. Wednesday night marked the debut of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships and was handed to the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winners, Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez. And in their very first defense, they dropped the championships to Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon.

It was a night of making shocking history. With Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon now at the top of the totem pole as the champions, expect a lengthy reign for the duo. It has long been fans’ hope that Blackheart would win gold in NXT. And when Moon returned to the brand, she promised that gold would be around her waist once again. While the titles are still very new, Moon is the first in history to win the women’s world and tag team titles in NXT.

As the division celebrated the new champions, it was clear that Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell were far from impressed with the new champions. One would have to believe that they will go head to head at the upcoming special event, NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. Time will tell if this match will in fact happen, but for now, it’s time for the new champions to celebrate their championship victory.
