#AndNEW: Sakura Hirota Wins Regina Di WAVE Championship

Sakura Hirota

Pro Wrestling WAVE visited Korakuen Hall for their final big show of the year.  This stacked show featured two title defences as well as a hardcore match between DASH Chisako and Yuki Miyazaki.  In the main event Nagisa Nozaki defended the Regina Di WAVE Championship against Sakura Hirota.  Hirota won the match, ending Nozaki’s reign just two days short of the one-year mark.

Hirota had to earn her title match by winning the NEXT tournament on a recent WAVE show.  The one-day tournament had Hirota wrestle three times on one show first defeating Rin Kadokura before beating Ayame Sasamura and DASH Chisako to become the number one contender.

Debuting back in 1996 for GAEA Japan Hirota has mostly spent her career being seen as nothing more than a comedy wrestler who has occasionally won tag team gold.  While Hirota is indeed one of the best comedy wrestlers of all time she is also a great worker, something she shows in glimpses during her comedy.  Now, as the top champion of WAVE we will get to see how Hirota handles the responsibility of being in such a big spot.  If we had to guess, she’ll kill it as she always does!  The Regina Di WAVE title is about to be home to some incredibly entertaining title defenses with Hirota at the helm.
