Preview: WWE SmackDown — Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens (12/25/20)

Roman Reigns Kevin Owens SmackDown

A Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you as WWE has stacked this Friday’s SmackDown to potentially be the best of the year. Roman Reigns remained Universal Champion, but he won’t celebrate for long. Three major title matches will highlight this must-see episode of SmackDown, as both the Intercontinental, WWE Women’s Tag Team, and Universal Championships will be on the line. Here’s the in-depth preview for SmackDown.

Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens in a Steel Cage match

Roman Reigns Kevin Owens SmackDown

Following his valiant but short effort on Sunday night at TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs, Kevin Owens has another opportunity at the Universal Championship. Much of this second opportunity comes due to Jey Uso‘s continuous involvement in the match on Sunday, as he eventually became the reason that Owens walked out without championship gold. Roman Reigns will be forced to defend with no help as they enter a Steel Cage. Not only will this allow Owens to get the payback he wants, but the fairest chance to earn the Universal Championship as well. This feud has been can’t miss, so expect no different come Friday.

Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Big E

Sami Zayn Big E

Sami Zayn has been talking and talking… and talking about how he is the “Champion of the People” and the best champion the WWE has. Last week, he celebrated with the Sami Awards, but it was Big E who received the Sami Award for Superstar of the Year. That was only a chapter in a rivalry that has been bubbling for weeks now. On the Kickoff show of TLC, Big E managed to pin Zayn in an eight-man tag team match, solidifying his shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Big E will try to give the world of WWE fans a real Christmas present, and that’s shutting up Zayn and taking his title. We have learned in the past that Zayn will do anything to win, so Big E must be wary of that Friday night.

Asuka & Charlotte Flair defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships for the first time

Asuka Charlotte Flair

It was announced on Monday Night Raw that the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Asuka and Charlotte Flair, will defend their titles for the very first time on SmackDown this week. While there is no opponent announced as of yet, the No. 1 options have to be Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan, as they are the only team on the SmackDown roster as of right now. Either way, it should be an interesting battle for what has become “Championship Friday.”
