#AndNEW: Christian Casanova Wins Limitless World Championship

When “Retro” Anthony Greene signed with the WWE in August of 2020, it meant big things on the horizon for the popular US indie star. Greene would be officially announced as part of the “EVOLVE Class” in October – alongside Brandi Lauren, Curt Stallion, Leon Ruff, Joe Gacy, and Josh Briggs – and made his WWE debut (now August Grey) soon after on 205 Live. But Greene’s quick ascension to TV in WWE meant one small problem – he was the reigning Limitless World Champion for Limitless Wrestling in Maine, a title he had held for 397-days since defeating AEW’s MJF back in September of 2019. He retained in his final title match, against NWA’s Ashley Vox (of Team Sea Stars) on October 7’s episode of Limitless’ series “The Road” on IndependentWrestling.tv, and soon after, relinquished the title. This meant that Limitless was now without a World Champion. To remedy that, Limitless announced that this year’s Vacationland Cup Tournament would now be to crown a new Limitless World Champion. In a field that featured Lee Moriarty, Daniel Garcia, JD Drake, Alec Price, Kevin Blackwood, Acey Romero, CJ Cruz, and Kevin Blackwood, it would be Christian Casanova who would finally pin Daniel Garcia in the finals to become the new Limitless World Champion.

Christian Casanova has been one of the Northeast’s top stars since he began in 2014, rising through the ranks of such New England promotions as Chaotic Wrestling, Northeast Championship Wrestling (NECW), and Northeast Wrestling (NEW), where he’s the reigning 2x Chaotic Heavyweight Champion (478 days and counting) and NEW Live Champion (365 days and counting). He debuted for Limitless in 2015 and has risen the ranks over the years, and after a couple of spot appearances throughout his career, he finally became a staple with Beyond Wrestling in 2019. In July of 2019, he made his Ring of Honor debut with a victory over Jimmy Preston at ROH Mass Hysteria, and in 2020, he made his Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) debut at For The Culture and Black Label Pro debut as part of this year’s TURBO GRAPS 16 tournament (he lost out to ACH in the opening round). It’s only a matter of time now before Casanova has his big breakout of the New England territory, but for now, he’s the brand new Limitless World Champion.
