Preview: AEW Dynamite – Winter is Coming (12/2/20)

Winter Is Coming

War is here. A cold December night will host these wrestlers for battle. Tonight’s AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming special is headlined by the highly anticipated AEW World Title Match between “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega and “Death Rider” Jon Moxley. Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin will team again to face Team Taz’s Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. “Legit” Leyla Hirsch looks to put the hurt on the good doctor, Britt Baker. Chris Jericho faces Frankie Kazarian for the first time ever. Finally, MJF will defend his Dynamite Diamond Ring in a battle royal. Will we see a new world champion? How will the landscape of AEW look entering into 2021? Will Sean Bean show up to die? Find out tonight.

Chris Jericho vs Frankie Kazarian

“A lion doesn’t concern himself with the opinions of a sheep.” After beating SCU last week. MJF was decked by AEW’s angriest wrestler. Chris Jericho looks to preserve the honor of The Inner Circle. Tonight it’s Y2J vs Kaz for the first time ever. Kazarian was a staple of TNA’s X-Division years ago who were the spiritual successors to the Cruiserweights of WCW. Not only that, he and Scorpio Sky were the first-ever AEW World Tag Team Champions. Chris Jericho is one of the most accomplished and respected junior heavyweights to ever lace up a pair of boots. Last year, Sky and Kaz defeated Le Sex Gods giving Le Champion his first ever pinfall loss on Dynamite. Now that MJF is The Painmaker’s new favorite ally in the faction, how will the group continue to coexist with this new dynamic?

Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal

“Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder.” The Salt of the Earth will put his Dynamite Diamond on the line in a fifteen-man battle royal. MJF won the $45,000 ring last year by defeating Hangman Adam Page. Since then he has pinned Cody at Revolution, challenged Mox for the world title at All Out, and joined The Inner Circle. MJF’s prized ring has been a significant help to him for winning his matches. Will he be able to hold on to his financial investment? He will have to contend with Hangman Adam Page, Wardlow, Miro, Sammy Guevara, Orange Cassidy, Scorpio Sky, Kip Sabian, John Silver, Alex Reynolds, Matt Hardy, Private Party, Matt Sydal, & Shawn Spears.

Dr. Britt Baker vs “Legit” Leyla Hirsch

“All men must die, but we are not men.” After making an enemy of Thunder Rosa two weeks ago on Dynamite. Dr. Britt Baker will be in action against a Suplex Machine in Leyla Hirsch. Leyla Hirsh came close to becoming NWA Women’s Champion against Serena Deeb last month. Meanwhile, Baker has done everything she can to make an enemy out of every woman in AEW. Dr. Baker will not rest until she becomes a Golden Role Model. However, how will Thunder Rosa look to get revenge?

Cody Rhodes & Darby Allin vs Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs

“A man with no motive is a man no one suspects. Always keep your foes confused.” Last week, Powerhouse Hobbs absolutely destroyed Lee Johnson much to the approval of Taz. Now Hobbs will team with his new partners in crime against “The American Nightmare” and “The Daredevil.” While Cody is certainly no stranger to making enemies. Hell, even Shaq apparently wants to kick his ass now. After mocking the FTW title and namedropping his son. Taz wasted no time in putting Cody to sleep. Meanwhile, Darby is none too pleased to have been pinned by Cage after an avalanche drill claw. Can Cody and Darby find a way to overcome this absolute wrecking crew?

AEW World Championship – Jon Moxley (c) vs Kenny Omega

“Some wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest word.” Tonight, everything is on the line. The biggest main event in the history of AEW Dynamite. “The Best Bout Machine” will face “The Purveyor of Violence” for the AEW World Title. Omega and Moxley’s rivalry defined AEW’s first year. Moxley has been AEW’s kingpin since Revolution. Meanwhile, Kenny formed the highly successful tag team with Hangman Page. Now that Hangman is firmly in Omega’s past, Kenny looks set to “resume his responsibilities.” Two weeks ago, Mox was attacked by a mystery assailant and laid out. Last week Moxley attacked Omega and signed the contract to make this match official. Omega has a chip on his shoulder, dancing girls on the stage, and a renewed obsession with winning the AEW World Title. The battle between two of AEW’s biggest stars will be must-see.
