AAA Lucha Libre has been making announcements for their 28th Triplemania event and while we have no show date we do have the news that Kenny Omega will defend the AAA Mega Championship against Laredo Kid. This will mark Omega’s fourth title defense but only the second one to take place on a AAA event. His last came against Dragon Lee at Triplemania Regia in late 2019. The other defenses have taken place on All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Event.
Laredo Kid is a good choice for Omega’s opponent, not only is Kid quite talented but he has history with Omega both in AEW and AAA. In 2019 Kid teamed with the Lucha Bros. to take on The Elite (Omega, Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson) in two matches, the first was a defeat on AEW soil, the second was a win for the Lucha team at last year’s Triplemania event. Now Kid gets Kenny Omega for the Mega Championship, the richest prize in all of AAA.
Also announced for Triplemania was Pagano vs Chessman in a hair vs hair match that is sure to dive into Lucha extrema territory as neither man is afraid to embrace hardcore wrestling. We also do not yet have a date for Triplemania but they hope to run the event in December, the show will also have 7 matches but only two have been announced so far.
