Nakajima went in as one of the favourites to win the tournament. This was due to him turning his back on his former tag team partner Go Shiozaki to joining Kongoh. Shiozaki just so happens to be the current GHC Heavyweight Champion meaning a tournament win would put the two on the warpath. While NOAH did create some doubt by having former champion Kiyomiya in the final they decided to go the route of having the former tag team champions collide in what is arguable NOAH’s hottest match.
This was Nakajima’s first time winning the N-1 Victory, he had somehow never even won the N-1 Victory predecessor the Global League, and his win makes Kongoh one of the most powerful stables in NOAH as they boast him as well as former champion Kenoh in their ranks.
