In quite a shock for the Edinburgh wrestling scene, the popular Jam House venue has revealed it won’t be reopening its doors, leaving behind it a few years of grappling memories thanks to the many Discovery Wrestling (DW) shows held there.
Discovery’s first Jam House show was their sixth show overall, taking place in February 2016, and featured future Discovery legend Gene Munny, former two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Nikki Storm (now Nikki Cross), and hardcore wrestling icon Tommy Dreamer, who was in the semi-main event alongside Grado opposite Lou King Sharp and current Y Division Champion, Joe Hendry.
As the years passed by, the likes of Ricochet, Candice LeRae, Sugar Dunkerton (or Pineapple Pete, if you prefer), and Kris Wolf all made their through the doors of the venue, but it’s not always about the huge names who’ve wrestled for Discovery on a Jam House card. Some of the company’s biggest moments also took place within the venue, such as the penultimate match of Johnny Lions, Joe Hendry capturing the Y Division Championship on their fifth anniversary show, the critically-acclaimed Survival Match, and both of the Disco Derbys, which saw Andy Wild become a permanent roster member and “Session Moth” Martina lift the Women’s Championship.
While Discovery have used a plethora of other venues in the past, most notably the Edinburgh Corn Exchange and the Portobello Town Hall, there was nothing quite like a night at the Jam House. Their most recent show to date, All About The Raffle in the middle of February, will remain their final show in the venue. Quite the card to go out on.
