Freelance Joshi performer ASUKA has had a great 2020 putting on a number of high profile matches and is now a double champion. Recently she won the Independent Junior Heavyweight Championship for DDT sub-brand Ganbare Pro. She has now added the World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana World Championship after defeating Ayako Sato on the August 30th Diana event.

Sato and ASUKA recently wrestled in Diana in a match that finished as a time limit draw, it was after this match that ASUKA staked her claim for Sato’s championship. Sato had been reigning Diana champion for 239 days before her run was ended by ASUKA.
With Diana beginning to air more shows it is an interesting idea to put the title on a new champion. ASUKA is certainly more widely known than Sato and will make fans interested in the product given she has performed for almost every Joshi company and has been a champion in DDT. Sato on the other hand has almost exclusively performed for Diana in recent years.
