Ohio Indie Wrestler Gerome Phillips Passes Away Aged 37

Gerome Phillips

The Ohio indie scene is in mourning following the death of Gerome Phillips.  Phillips wrestled under a number of monikers including King Vu, Black Jaws, Deja Vu, Richard Phillips, and Gerome Phillips.

Phillips has most of his success for Heartland Wrestling Association for whom he was a six-time HWA Tag Team Champion and a two-time HWA Heavyweight Champion.  His second reign came about by defeating a man by the name of Jon Moxley.  Not only did he have this win over Moxley but the two also teamed together in HWA as Royal Violence where the team would twice hold the tag team championships.  Phillips was also HWA American Luchadore Champion.

As well as HWA Phillips worked for Rockstar Pro Wrestling and made appearances for Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) and IWA Mid South (IWA MS).  He has been fondly remembered by a number of his colleagues who have spoke not only of his talent but also his personality.  Everyone agrees that he was a great person and those are hard to come by in the wrestling world.

Our thoughts and sympathies extend to the family of Gerome Phillips, his friends, and anyone who got the chance to work with him.  Also please read this amazing tribute to the man courtesy of Sports obsessive
