KENTA had a hot start to the year when he attacked Tetsuya Naito during his title celebration, Covid-19 has put a stop to that momentum but during New Japan Cup USA KENTA has found his momentum once again. His path to the final saw him defeat Karl Fredericks and Jeff Cobb before defeating former IWGP Heavyweight tag champion David Finlay Jr. in the final.
KENTA was one of the early favorites to win the tournament given his positioning in NJPW as one of the top names in Bullet Club. Now he is on a collision course with Jon Moxley in a first time ever match-up for the United States Championship. There’s something to be said for two guys who weren’t utilized to their fullest now colliding over an NJPW title in a match that is sure to be really good.
