Report: Renee Young Leaving WWE

Renee Young

The time has come for one of WWE’s biggest non-wrestling personalities of the last decade to move on. Reports from both Outkick and PWInsider have said that Renee Young will be leaving WWE in the near future.

Young has done it all for WWE since signing there in 2012. She hosted both the beloved Talking Smack alongside Daniel Bryan as well as most recently hosting WWE Backstage on Fox Sports 1. Her most notable work when it comes to WWE television was her work as a backstage interviewer and commentator for Monday Night Raw, as in August 2018, Young became the first woman to be a full-time commentator on WWE television.

Her time on WWE television had seen a massive drop after she became a “special correspondent” to the SmackDown brand in October 2019, right as the blue brand went to FOX. She had been working for FOX on the WWE Backstage show, but in recent months the show stopped being produced weekly, becoming a sporadic program instead.

Young has long been a popular face on WWE with fans recognizing and appreciating her charismatic and genuine personality. She has always been able to avoid the “robotic” interviewing styles that some have seen for years out of backstage interviewers, something that will serve her well in her next chapter, wherever or whatever that may be.

While there is no word as of yet in this writing when she will officially depart the company, we do know that Young has been working on a cookbook while also always thriving as a host in a Talking Smack like setting.

Renee Young is married to AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, so there will always be that thought of her moving there if she’d like to be with her husband and stay in wrestling.

One thing is for sure, Young will have no problem finding work and will be an asset to whoever is able to employ her moving forward.
