#AndNEW: Jamie Tagataese Wins SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Title

Jamie Tagataese

As Southern Pro Wrestling (SPW) remerged from their COVID-19 induced hiatus the company saw a dramatic shift at the top of the roster. During night two of the annual Southern Rumble event Jamie Tagataese defeated Shane Sinclair to capture the SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Championship.

During night one of the epic two night SPW showcase event Tagataese competed in the prestigious Southern Rumble match, overcoming 19 other men to earn his championship opportunity. Conversely, Shane Sinclair had to see off a challenge from the returning NIWA, who had been competing in Mexico in recent years.

Night two saw the two big men go to war with Tagataese ultimately coming out on top. The SPW title becomes the second top crown held by Tagataese in New Zealand, having previously held the Impact Pro Wrestling (IPW) Heavyweight Championship for 413 days. Can the dominate ‘Big Man’ surpass that previous title reign with this run at the top of the highly competitive SPW?
