Brian Myers FKA Curt Hawkins Has Joined IMPACT Wrestling

Brian Myers Impact

Proving that Slammiversary wasn’t just a one night event, IMPACT Wrestling announced yet another signing on Tuesday night as a vignette aired for one Brian Myers, who is perhaps better known as WWE‘s Curt Hawkins.

With such a buzz right now, IMPACT continues to make waves. Entering a night where the hype was high and the viewers are up, IMPACT announced that Myers is headed to the IMPACT Zone. The video was only about 15 seconds and much like EC3‘s return vingette, didn’t feature any speaking by Myers. In the background however were various wrestling platitudes such as “always be ready,” and “trust the process.” Within five minutes of the video appearing on Twitter, it already had over 2,000 views, suggesting that IMPACT’s buzz is alive and well.

One of the WWE Black Wednesday releases, the 35-year-old Myers, who wrestles out of New York, has been a professional wrestler for 16 years. Known for his time in the NY indie scene, specifically New York Wrestling Connection, Myers first joined WWE’s developmental territory, Deep South Wrestling in 2006, two years into his career. He spent the next nine years with WWE, winning five tag team titles, including in DSW, Ohio Valley Wrestling, Florida Championship Wrestling and WWE’s main roster. He returned to WWE in 2016, following a yearlong stint on the indies, and went on to win his final tag title, capturing the Raw tag team championships following an angle where he lost over 200 matches in a row.

Myers, who is actually returning to TNA/IMPACT following making his debut with the company and winning the tag titles briefly in 2015 during the TNA/Global Force Wrestling invasion angle, is also known for running Create-A-Pro Academy, the wrestling school he founded alongside Pat Buck in 2014. The school has boasted no shortage of talented wrestlers including MJF, who has become one of pro wrestling’s best heels.

It will be interesting to see how Myers fits into the current IMPACT landscape, but one thing is for sure. These ex-WWE talents are out to prove something and if the early vignettes and promos are any indication, the best is yet to come.
