#AndNEW: Yoshihiko Wins DDT Ironman Title Ahead of US Tour

The wrestling world was stunned to discover last week that Dramatic Dream Team (DDT) Pro star Yoshihiko, the infamous blow-up doll that has wrestled both Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi in the past, was heading to the US for his first solo tour, starting in two weeks with Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), where he’ll face Joey Janela at GCW Homecoming. It looks like it could become a championship tour, however, as on Saturday night, Yoshihiko defeated Makato Oishi at DDT Summer Itabashi Series to become the new DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion. It marks Yoshihiko’s 14th time holding the title, with his longest reign being 77-days back in 2009.

The idea behind the unusually named Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship is similar to the WWE 24/7 title or previous Hardcore Championship, in that it can be won anywhere and anytime – but unlike those other titles, anyone and anything can win the belt. It’s been won by animals, furniture, Vince McMahon’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and a sex blow-up doll. DDT Pro has confirmed that if Yoshihiko is still Ironman champion by the time he leaves for the US, his match against Janela will be for the Ironman title.
