PWInsider has revealed on Thursday night that IMPACT Wrestling has stripped Tessa Blanchard of the IMPACT World Championship and has officially terminated the contract, thus making her a free agent.
Here is IMPACT’s official statement regarding the release of Blanchard:
Impact Wrestling confirmed that it has terminated its relationship with Tessa Blanchard and stripped her of the Impact Wrestling World Championship
Blanchard was scheduled to defend the IMPACT World Championship at Slammiversary in a five-way match, facing off with Ace Austin, Trey, Eddie Edwards, and the currently suspended Michael Elgin. There is no word as to whether Elgin will remain in the match as well.
Reports have been rumored for months that Blanchard’s contract was nearing an end during the summer and there was uncertainty as to whether she would re-sign with the company. PWInsider adds to their report that Blanchard’s relationship with IMPACT had become “icy” in recent months, as she failed to send them a recorded promo for their June 1 episode.
Blanchard became the first-ever female world champion of a major company back in January when she defeated Sami Callihan in the main event of the Hard To Kill PPV.
Blanchard’s fiance, DAGA, currently remains with IMPACT and there is no word as to whether he will remain with the company moving forward, as he is signed to a multi-year contract.
With Blanchard officially released from the company, they will now head into a completely new direction and will attempt to crown a new IMPACT World Champion at the upcoming Slammiversary PPV. There is no word on Blanchard’s wrestling future as of this writing.
