The Dark Order seems to have found its latest recruit as indie wrestler Alan Angels, who has been appearing on AEW programming recently in high profile matches, has officially dubbed himself as the recently revealed Five, who is competing this coming Tuesday on AEW DARK. To reflect his new status, Angels changed his profile picture to the Letter V, which is the Roman numeral for the number five, and also changed his bio to declare that “Five Angels haunt the grounds of the Dark Order.”

The 22-year-old Angels is a familiar name in the Southern indie scene, having wrestled primarily for ACTION Wrestling and Southern Fried Championship Wrestling, his home promotion. Wrestling out of Georgia, he’s also wrestled for ACW, Peachstate Wrestling Alliance, Scenic City Invitational and is a former champ in Southern Honor Wrestling. Recently, he’s begun to expand his profile, wrestling for Absolute Intense Wrestling and Paradigm Pro Wrestling in the Midwest and WWNLive and Future of Honor in the Northeast.

Angels first made his debut for AEW on the April 8th episode of AEW Dynamite. Since then, Angels has wrestled four matches on Dynamite and DARK, including three singles matches, all of which went over six minutes long. These were certainly no squash matches, as Angels had the chance to share a ring with Kenny Omega, Fenix, and Sammy Guevara. Each time was another chance to impress and Angels certainly did just that, even earning Chris Jericho‘s praise on commentary and Twitter after the match with Omega. It didn’t take long after that for AEW to realize the potential star they had on their hands.
A pro wrestler of just four years, Angels has trained with both AR Fox at WWA4 and QT Marshall at the One Fall Power Factory. Now the Nightmare Factory, Angels’ addition to the Dark Order makes him the second such trainee from Marshall’s school to join the faction. The first of course was Preston Vance, who joined the Dark Order as Ten just a few months ago.
Angels’ reveal, which was so perfectly alluded to by Tony Khan who shared a gif of “Frankie Five Angels,” a reference to the character from Godfather II, already has fans excited for the potential of what could come next with some even suggesting he should team up with Ten to create a great Dark Order tag team. In the meantime, however, Angels is set for his first AEW match as the newly named Five, which will happen on Tuesday’s DARK against his GFW tag partner and another name who is being hyped up within AEW, Lee Johnson.

This was an optimal reaction gif for more than one reason. First, this man is quenching his thirst, like a wrestling fan thirsting for some AEW on Tuesday when #AEWDark is posted. Also the man’s name is Frankie “5 Angels”.

The newest member of the Dark Order, Angels joins a faction that consists of “The Exalted One” Brodie Lee, the group’s leader, and fellow recruits Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, John Silver, Alex Reynolds, and Preston Vance. He’ll no doubt have a chance to make his impact on the AEW roster and within the Dark Order’s ranks sooner rather than later.
