Preview: Friday Night SmackDown (6/5/20)

Another week has passed and another episode of SmackDown has arrived.  WWE‘s blue brand put on a very good episode last week, with the controversial-though-effective Jeff Hardy storyline grabbing headlines.  The fallout of the opening led to Sheamus meeting Daniel Bryan in the ring, with the winner facing AJ Styles in the final of the Intercontinental Championship tournament.  Of course, Bryan won the match and advanced to the final.  The already-taped finale will come on next week’s SmackDown.  Per Kurt Angle, we also had the announcement of Matt Riddle‘s looming SmackDown debut.  In short, there is much to be excited about.  Without further ado, let’s jump into this week’s preview!

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross(C)  vs Bayley & Sasha Banks

On last week’s episode of SmackDown, Sasha Banks defeated Alexa Bliss in a good match.  Though rumors have circulated for years regarding their personal, behind-the-scenes rivalry, they have always had good in-ring chemistry.  Prior to the match was a segment involving all four women, with Bliss poking fun at Sasha’s role of lackey and her obvious absence of any kind of championship.  There is something building between Sasha and SmackDown Women’s Champion, Bayley.  Bayley has regularly silenced The Boss; just last week, she booked a match for her without informing her beforehand.  Is there some brewing jealousy? Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross (who it turns out is hilarious on commentary) might just look to seize advantage of this development.  Tune in to find out what happens here.
