Brian Cage Makes AEW Debut at Double or Nothing

It had been rumored for months, but on Saturday night at All Elite Wrestling‘s Double or Nothing pay-per-view from Jacksonville, Florida, former IMPACT World Heavyweight Champion Brian Cage officially debuted with AEW as the ninth mystery entrant into the Casino Ladder Match. Cage was accompanied to the ring by AEW announcer Taz. He would go on to win the match, securing a future shot at the AEW World title.

Brian Cage is a 15-year veteran in pro wrestling who got his start in 2005 in the West Coast indie scene of California. In June of 2008, he signed with WWE to a developmental deal and spent two years at Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) before being released just over a year later. He returned to the indies, working for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Championship Wrestling From Hollywood (CWFH), and Las Vegas’ Future Stars of Wrestling (FSW).

He would gain his first national exposure in 2014 as part of Lucha Underground and then debuted with Lucha Underground’s promotional partner, AAA Lucha Libre in 2015. In January of 2018, he signed with IMPACT Wrestling, quickly winning the IMPACT X-Divison Championship. At IMPACT Rebellion in April of 2019, he defeated Johnny Impact (John Morrison) for the IMPACT World title, holding it for 180-days. He lost it to Sami Callihan in October of last year. His last match with IMPACT was in January of this year at the Bash at the Brewery 2 event co-produced by River City Wrestling (RCW) in Texas.
