All Elite Wrestling returns with yet another episode of AEW Dynamite. This week’s episode serves as the go-home edition, with Double or Nothing 2020 taking place this Saturday (May 23). AEW has arguably been the most consistent wrestling promotion throughout the COVID-19 epidemic era, so hopefully they continue their run of form here. What does this week’s episode have in-store? Let’s find out!
Jon Moxley vs 10
Last week, Jon Moxley angrily stormed the ring to confront Mr. Brodie Lee. Two weeks ago, Lee stole Mox’s Championship, causing Mox to snap. He fought his way to the ring and promised Lee that at Double or Nothing, his “AEW career would be over before its even started”. Strong words. After clearing out The Dark Order last week, it appears 10 is stepping up to defend his leader’s honor. There is no way Moxley loses here, going into Double or Nothing. Expect something of a squash, with a brawl taking place after. This feud is just getting heated, so it’s a shame that it is likely ending this Saturday.
MJF vs Marko Stunt
MJF squashed Lee Johnson in just over two minutes in his comeback match last week. A potentially career threatening hangnail injury is now in his rear-view mirror as he looks ahead to his Double or Nothing bout against Jungle Boy this Saturday. Attempting to stand in his way is Marko Stunt, who MJF has referred to as a “warm-up” match. Poor Marko has been unlucky with opponents lately; having had to face both Lance Archer and Mr. Brodie Lee in recent weeks. Honestly, he should probably speak to his boss about bullying in the workplace. With MJF looking to get some momentum going, it is unlikely he loses here. With Wardlow in his corner, expect an MJF victory.
Orange Cassidy vs Fenix
With brother Pentagon Jr. stranded in Mexico, Rey Fenix has been working alone. Arguably the most talented man in the company, it is criminal he hasn’t been used more prominently. Stepping up as a challenger is Orange Cassidy who, like Fenix, will be in the Casino Ladder Match this Saturday. Fenix is a likely favorite for the match, but with a mystery opponent scheduled to appear, it’s his to lose. The “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy will be looking to win, too. Nine men will enter, only one can win. Who wins? You’ll have to tune-in this Saturday to find out. In the meantime, tune-in to AEW Dynamite to see Fenix face Cassidy.
Arn Anderson & Jake The Snake Roberts Interview
In what should serve as a promo lesson for the younger wrestlers, Arn Anderson and Jake “The Snake” Roberts meet for a face-to-face interview. Anderson is very much a “Cody Guy”; having been in his corner throughout his AEW run. Jake is, of course, Archer’s manager/mentor. To build-up their Double or Nothing TNT Championship Tournament final match this Saturday, you can imagine something nasty is going to take place here. Can we expect Lance Archer to take out Double-A? It is very possible. Tune-in to find out.
Sammy Guevara vs Matt Hardy
Speaking of things getting nasty; poor Vanguard-1. At the hands of Chris Jericho and Floyd, Vanguard-1 was murdered. Dismembered. The close-ally and best friend of “Broken” Matt Hardy is no more and one must assume Hardy will be seeking revenge. Now allied with the memories of his fallen ally, Hardy turns his attention to “The Spanish God” Sammy Guevara. It is sometimes natural for one to turn to God after the death of a loved one. Unfortunately for Sammy, he may just find Hardy to be a disbeliever. He has already been run over by Hardy (with Kenny Omega) in a golf cart. Things could be about to get so much worse. AEW Dynamite is live this Wednesday on TNT, 8pm Eastern.
