For weeks, the name Nasty Leroy has become part of a cult following on Wrestling Twitter, as the indie wrestler/manager of the same name gained infamy as one of Joey Janela‘s frequent guests on his #JanelaZone segments on Instagram. But Nasty Leroy went viral on Wednesday night when he appeared as part of the small audience for AEW Dynamite during Janela’s opening match against Cody Rhodes.

Nasty Leroy is a product of AEW producer/wrestler QT Marshall‘s 1 Fall Power Factory and has been part of the Georgia indie scene since 2018. That same year, he began a podcast, The Nasty Reality, where he infrequently discusses topics about the wrestling world.
For the past few months since the COVID-19 pandemic, AEW has utilized many wrestlers from QT Marshall’s 1 Fall Power Factory on both AEW DARK and AEW Dynamite, including Alan Angels and Matt Sells. Recently, Joey Janela started doing chat shows on his IG account, and Nasty Leroy became a cult hero following his interactions with Janela. Janela has been a longtime advocate for Leroy, going back to 2018.

Considering AEW’s ability to seemingly create stars out of viral moments on Social Media, such as Orange Cassidy at last year’s Double or Nothing, or “Pineapple Pete” Suge-D in recent weeks, it seems that the unique dancing and commentary of Nasty Leroy is starting to infiltrate the wrestling zeitgeist – whether he becomes more like the lasting popularity of Orange Cassidy or the 15 minutes of Super Humman is yet to be determined.
