April 19, 2020, was supposed to be the latest pay-per-view event for the National Wrestling Alliance. They were expecting to be hosting the next edition of The Crockett Cup which would have featured the return of the NWA Television Championship. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, all NWA operations have been suspended. To help share something positive, the NWA will be debuting the full 2019 edition of the Crockett Cup for free on their YouTube channel. It adds an element of normalcy to have a pay-per-view event to look forward to on a Sunday night or early Monday morning.
Beginning at 7:00 PM Eastern Time, you can relive the event in the comfort of your own home. This event featured the crowning of the NWA Tag Team Championship following the tournament held during this show. As this event was co-promoted with Ring of Honor, the tournament featured both NWA and ROH superstars. One of the teams featured would go on to become The Wild Cards, Tom Latimer and Royce Isaacs. They also crowned the NWA World Women’s Champion in a match between Allysin Kay and Santana Garrett. It was also the first clash of real-life friends Nick Aldis and Marty Scurll over the infamous 10 Pounds of Gold.
With the current state of wrestling and the world in general an unknown, it’s nice to see wrestling companies continuing to offer free content to keep fans entertained at home. The NWA also has some merchandise on sale if you would like to support their company and are able to at this time.
