Preview: AEW Dynamite (3/25/20)

AEW Dynamite

This week’s installment of AEW Dynamite is again from behind closed doors.  In-line with global action against the COVID-19 pandemic, numbers in attendance have to be low.  Unfortunately, this means that the billed Blood & Guts match has had to be postponed.  However, it was a commendable, sensible decision to postpone – but at least we have something to look forward to when this is all over.  The new card being advertised is pretty great without the match.  With last week bringing both the arrival of Broken Matt Hardy and the unveiling of Brodie Lee as the Exalted One, AEW Dynamite is really gaining some momentum.

Kenny Omega vs Sammy Guevara

AEW Dynamite

Kenny Omega is one of the best in the world and has been for some time.  This week, he is defending his AAA Mega Championship against “The Spanish God”, Sammy Guevara.  Though Sammy Guevara has impressed during his time in AAA, this title match may come as a surprise.  Guevara has lost five of his last six matches.  In a company where wins and losses matter, it is perhaps a strange choice.  However, given the two men belong to opposing factions – The Elite and The Inner Circle, respectively – it makes sense.  Kenny is likely to retain the title he won from Rey Fenix back in October, but expect a high-octane, entertaining match.

Best Friends vs Lucha Bros Parking Lot Brawl

Last week, the Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Fenix) scored a nice victory over Best Friends (Trent and Chuck Taylor).  In doing so, they got to choose this week’s stipulation: parking lot brawl.  With the added stipulation obviously ruling out ordinary, disqualification rules, expect Orange Cassidy and PAC to get involved in some capacity.  Last week’s match was an excellent, 14 minutes of tag team wrestling.  Hopefully this feud delivers again this week.

Cody vs Jimmy Havoc

Chief honcho, Cody, announced via text message this week (to those who signed up) that he would be squaring off against Jimmy Havoc.  With the Blood & Guts match indefinitely postponed, why not face the living embodiment of “blood and guts” in Havoc? Havoc has only recently returned to regular programming and therefore could pull off an upset.  Could we expect a distraction from long-time rival, MJF? Stay tuned.

Promo Between Chris Jericho & Matt Hardy

On last week’s Dynamite, Matt Hardy debuted, bringing his Broken Brilliance to AEW.  Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle looked stunned as Matt Hardy gazed down upon them.  It made for a cool moment, with Matt Hardy and Jericho having decades worth of rivalries between them.  Dynamite is merely a new venue for them to showcase their creative brilliance in the ring together.  Where this feud goes is anyone’s guess, but one thing is for sure; it is going to be fun.  Both men have a similar ability to reinvent themselves when needed, with terrific results.  Expect something new on this week’s installment.
