Black Label Pro Holding Empty Arena Show to Benefit Wrestlers

Let’s take a minute to step back and acknowledge and appreciate just how truly amazing those in the wrestling community have been over these past two weeks. Whether it’s supporting each other, supporting promotions, supporting fans or supporting wrestlers, everyone has stepped up in one way or the other and that will never be forgotten. As was announced today, we can add Black Label Pro to the list of promotions planning to hold empty arena events to benefit indie wrestlers as well as provide fans the opportunity to see live pro wrestling, something which is becoming rarer and rarer it seems as governmental agencies impose new restrictions on gatherings of as small as 50 people.

Times are tough and that’s why it’s especially admirable to see the movement that has been going on in the indies. On Monday, March 16th, Black Label Pro set up an indiegogo announcing their campaign to raise money for indie wrestlers. Within an hour, nearly 30 fans contributed to raise close to $1,000, which is 1/5 of the $5,000 goal BLP set. This money will go directly to the wrestlers working the empty arena show. At this time, the card is yet to be announced but there is no doubt BLP will put together a great show like they always do.

When making their announcement, BLP cut straight to the point, stating on their indiegogo page, “We need to raise as much money as possible to give back to the wrestlers that do so much to entertain us. This is to help these human beings survive and not have to worry…For some of these athletes, this could be the difference of eating vs not eating. We just want to take care of these wrestlers.”

Details on the March 28th show, which will stream live on IWTV, should come in the following days/weeks, but in the meantime, BLP also suggested fans can help by visiting wrestlers’ merchandise stores and supporting them that way.
