SmackDown has by far been the weaker show as of late. But last week, all looked to be clearing up with King Corbin vs Roman Reigns seemingly be cleared up. Or so we thought. All signs point to them having one more match even though it does not seem necessary to anyone. You win some, you lose some. The wrestling world has been abuzz however, as we were set to find out, “Who’s next?” Here are the highlights.
Once Upon a Time on… The Dirt Sheet
Cheers, everyone. After a decade of being extinct and in everyone’s mind, never happening again, it was back. The Miz and John Morrison brought back their award-winning show, “The Dirt Sheet”. And this was extra special, as they created a special trailer for their upcoming SmackDown Championship win at WWE Super Showdown. A parody of the Oscar-nominated, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Maybe improved, however, as this was “Once Upon a Time on… The Dirt Sheet.” Watch the trailer below. The New Day wasn’t too happy. Entertainment is entertainment.
Goldberg Picks… “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt Live Via Satellite
"HERE'S YOUR BREAKING NEWS: #TheFiend @WWEBrayWyatt, YOU'RE NEXT!" – @Goldberg #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/QDQxuCB6IH
— WWE (@WWE) February 8, 2020
Goldberg did not show up to SmackDown live but instead arrived via satellite. Been a while since we have seen that it feels like. Michael Cole asked Goldberg who was next. He held nothing back, saying he wants his rematch after all this time for the Universal Championship. Then a special report edition of the “Firefly Fun House” chimed in. Bray Wyatt accepted on “The Fiend’s” behalf. Before he could go much further, Goldberg made it clear you cannot spook him. This match has been made official for Super Showdown.
SmackDown MVP: Carmella
Fatal Four-Way match to decide the No.1 contender for Bayley‘s SmackDown Women’s Championship. Five-time champion Alexa Bliss, two-time champion Naomi, one-time champion Carmella, and Dana Brooke all had the chance to move on and face Bayley. Lots of early pinfall attempts by the women involved but no victory was found. The ending minutes were between Naomi and Bliss for the most part. Bliss shoved Naomi off the top rope and got a close pinfall but not enough. From here, Bliss got control before Carmella and Brooke got back involved. Naomi came close a number of times in this match but was yet to find success. Bliss got to the top rope to go for Twisted Bliss on Naomi, but the knees would get up.
A rearview by Naomi would seem to be it, but out of nowhere Carmella would roll in, hit not one, but two superkicks, and got the win. After the match, Bayley attacked her new challenger with her new finish to send the message. Many believed, including me, that this would be Naomi’s. Guess not. At least for right now. It was not noted when this match would take place.
