Wrestlecon Worldwide Adds First Matches, Announces Names

One of the biggest hosts of events during WrestleMania week is Wrestlecon, who have once again lined up a series of events this coming April in Tampa, Florida. One of their themed shows is an international card called Worldwide, which features stars from around the globe meeting up in interesting match-ups. Over the last few days, Wrestlecon has begun revealing talents appearing and over the weekend announced the first two match announcements.

Caveman Ugg vs. Barbaro Cavernario

Is the wrestling world ready for a battle of the cavemen? Well on Saturday April 4 at Worldwide, we’re getting just that – and don’t worry, despite the somewhat throwback gimmicks, these are two of the very best from their respective countries. Cavemann Ugg has been a huge star of the vibrant Australian indie scene, where he’s the reigning Pro Wrestling Australia (PWA) Heavyweight Champion (and has for over 530 days at press time). This past fall, he was part of his first Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) Battle of Los Angeles. His opponent was also originally announced for BOLA ’19, but had to pull out close to the event, robbing the potential dream match happening in Los Angeles. El Barbaro Cavernario has been one of the top young stars in Mexico for the past few years with Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre (CMLL), as well as working some NJPW events. The reigning Mexican National Light Heavyweight Champion (for nearly 450 days) has only scratched the surface for working events outside of his native Mexico.

Riot Lucha Libre Championship: Arez (c) vs. Carlos Romo

Arez has been a veteran of the Mexican wrestling circuit for over a decade, working with the likes of AAA, The Crash Lucha, Desastre Total Ultraviolento (DTU) and RIOT Wrestling Alliance, the latter of whom he’s the reigning RIOT Championship. Arez has been increasing his presence outside of Mexico of late, working with the likes of IMPACT Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), Black Label Pro, and Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). His opponent at Worldwide is one of Spain’s top indie wrestlers, Carlos Romo, who exploded as part of White Wolf Wrestling (Triple W) in his homeland, has become a staple of the UK indie scene as well, as a regular with RevPo, Fight Club: PRO, Ireland’s Over The Top (OTT) and more. This could be the match of the night, easily.

Scheduled for Wrestlecon Worldwide: Mick Moretti

While no match has been announced for the “Rapscallion” yet, at least we know that another of Australia’s top indie stars is returning to the US for another showcase. Mick Moretti has been working his way into the US over the past few years, working with PWG, CHIKARA, GCW, Beyond Wrestling and more. A former PWA Heavyweight Champion and Newy Pro Heavyweight Champion, Moretti and his Four Nations stable have been main event stars in Australia for years.

Scheduled for Wrestlecon Worldwide: Black Taurus

Another Mexican sensation looking to breakout in the US, Black Taurus has been one of AAA’s top stars of late. A veteran of CMLL and other Mexican promotions as well, Black Taurus’ imposing headgear and powerful skillset has endeared him to fans around the world, as he has started to work with the likes of IMPACT, Major League Wrestling (MLW), Black Label Pro, PWG, and more.

Scheduled for Wrestlecon Worldwide: Aramis

An 11-year veteran in Mexican lucha libre, Aramis is a staple of International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) in his home country, as well as appearances for AAA and The Crash Lucha. He too has been working his way into the US scene, wrestling for IMPACT, PWG, AAW, and others of late.
