On Saturday, January 18th, Glory Pro Wrestling presents the first annual David Lee Memorial Tournament. David Lee was the father of Glory Pro owner Kevin Lee Davidson, also known as KLD. Sadly, David Lee is no longer with us, but Glory Pro is holding a tournament to honor his legacy! This is a one night, eight-person single-elimination tournament. Some of Glory Pro’s top stars will be included in this tournament, making it a can’t miss event! Glory Pro has a loaded 2020 schedule, all starting with this tournament from the Affton Elks Lodge in Affton, MO.
Barackus vs. Camaro Jackson vs. PB Smooth vs. The Kenway
While the David Lee Memorial Tournament is the main focus of this event, there is this huge four-way that will take place. Barackus has been running roughshod on Glory Pro since its inception, and will look to make a statement in this non-tournament match. Camaro Jackson is one half of Alpha Omega alongside Kenny Alfonso. PB Smooth has been making frequent appearances in Glory Pro lately but is still searching for his first win. The Kenway is coming off a singles victory over Manders. Everyone may tunnel vision on the tournament taking place, however this four-way has match of the night potential with all four men hungry for a win.
Seishin vs. Elayna Black
Back at Unsanctioned II, Elayna Black picked up a huge win in a three-way against Laynie Luck and her opponent at this event, Seishin. Both Black and Seishin are regulars in Glory Pro, but this match has even more meaning as Seishin wants revenge from what happened at Unsanctioned II. While Glory Pro doesn’t have a women’s championship, the women’s division features an array of individuals. Seishin is arguably the top star, as her transformation from Tootie has been one to remember. These women are both signed for matches at Anniversary III, but they need to be focused on one match at a time, as one slight mistake will likely end the match.
#DLMT First Round: Dan The Dad vs. PACO
Moving onto tournament action, Dan the Dad will be taking on PACO. PACO’s heel turn last year was one of the most shocking moments in Glory Pro history, and PACO will be looking to keep up his momentum as Glory Pro holds its first event of 2020. Dan the Dad has a massive mixed tag match coming up at Anniversary III. He also has a huge task ahead of him if he wants to make it out of the first round of the David Lee Memorial Tournament. PACO has to be one of the favorites to win the tournament, however if he comes in overconfident, Danny could easily steal the victory.
#DLMT First Round: Mike Outlaw vs. Airwolf
Airwolf‘s career really began in Glory Pro, and his career has continued to get better and better. Mike Outlaw is really what his name implies, an outlaw. This match-up sees an interesting mash of styles, as Airwolf will unsurprisingly try and take this match to the air, while Mike Outlaw is more a fan of the ground and pound style. All four first round matches have a ton of potential, but this is undoubtedly the sleeper match of the first round.
#DLMT First Round: Myron Reed vs. Jake Lander
Myron Reed was the second ever Crown of Glory Champion, and he went on to have a lengthy reign, defeating many notable names in the process. Since then he won the United Glory Championships with Stephen Wolf, but hasn’t had much traction since losing those belts. He came so close to defeating Hakim Zane at Steel Cage Classic to become the inaugural Midwest Territory Champion, but fell short, and is looking to use this tournament as a rebound. Jake Lander is no easy opponent, as he is hungry to pick up his first singles victory in Glory Pro since June of 2019. Lander has put up competitive match-ups against the likes of AJ Gray, Airwolf, Curt Stallion, among others. This will be a fast-paced, competitive, great match-up, which has so much potential to be the match of the night.
#DLMT First Round: Kevin Lee Davidson vs. Everett Connors
It is only fitting that Kevin Lee Davidson takes place in the tournament that is named after his father. KLD recently lost the United Glory Championships to Halal Beefcake, and the next month lost to Rickey Shane Page in a wild encounter. One of the big surprises of this tournament was Everett Connors being one of the eight participants. Connors hasn’t been seen in Glory Pro since he lost the United Glory Championships back in October of 2018. Connors originally won those championships with Michael Elgin, however, transitioned to a team with DJZ (NXT’s Joaquin Wilde). This will be the first time Connors has been in singles competition in Glory Pro since July 9th, 2017, where he defeated Stephen Wolf. Will Connors shock the world and pick up a huge return win, or will KLD win and go on to win the entire tournament?
This show will also feature the semi-finals, and finals of the David Lee Memorial Tournament, with a few more non-tournament matches also likely. No bracket has been announced, so it is unclear who will face who after the first round. After this event, Glory Pro is taking a month off but will be back in action on March 1st for Anniversary III.
