On December 15th, 2019, NWA aired Into The Fire, a show that featured multiple title matches and gained a good reception from the wrestling community as a step forward in the right direction for the company. In the co-main event of the evening, there was a triple threat match for the NWA National Championship which featured three of the most promising stars in NWA today.
Aron Stevens, formerly known as Damien Sandow, went into a triple threat with Ricky Starks who is known by his promos as “stroke daddy,” and former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Colt Cabana. Aron Stevens has been managing “The Question Mark,” Ricky Starks has been showcasing his personality more lately and Colt Cabana, who made his return for the company earlier this year, has already held the NWA National Championship twice. His second win came against James Storm, which led to Cabana defending his title at Into the Fire.
In a match that went 11 minutes, Aron Stevens picked up a major upset, winning the NWA National Championship for the first time in his career. It is the first time he has held gold in NWA, a company he has been in since the creation of NWA Powerrr. In this match, The Question Mark got involved in the finish, allowing Stevens to win the title very sneakily. It seems there’s definitely potential for a rematch between Aron Stevens and former champion Colt Cabana in the near future. So one could definitely say that this is a new era for The Intellectual Savior To The Masses.
