On Monday, AEW doubled down on additions to their women’s division. Their first announced talent was Big Swole, formally known as Aerial Monroe. Big Swole is the current Phoenix of RISE Champion and one half of the Shine Tag Team Champions with Aja Perera. Prior to working with AEW, her most mainstream appearance was for WWE in the 2018 Mae Young Classic. Big Swole first appeared for AEW during the All Out Casino Battle Royale, which was won by Nyla Rose. Since then, she’s appeared on four episodes of AEW Dark. Big Swole is not short on personality or heart, but she is currently 0-2 in both singles and tag team competition. This Wednesday on Dynamite, Big Swole will take on the legendary Emi Sakura. It will be her first appearance on AEW’s main programming.

AEW’s other signing is none other than the Alien Among Us, Kris Statlander. Her history with the promotion only dates back to November, she first appeared on an episode of AEW Dark teaming with Big Swole. Later that month, she teamed with Hikaru Shida in a losing effort against Bea Priestley and Emi Sakura. On the December 4th edition of AEW Dynamite, Statlander appeared in a singles contest with Shida. The alien would pick up the victory and puts her back on track for a future AEW Women’s Championship shot. She is currently 1-0 in singles action and 0-2 in tag team competition. The announcement of her signing confirms reports that circulated and were reported on at the end of November. We here at Last Word on Pro Wrestling wish both women nothing but the best in their next endeavors.
