WWE Tryouts: A Look at the Indie Stars at the WWE PC (VIDEOS)

WWE held huge WWE tryouts in Orlando, Florida this week at the WWE Performance Center, featuring an enormous class that featured multi-sport athletes, models, and more. There was also a huge indie scene coverage, including some champions from various indies. Here’s a quick rundown of the indie wrestlers who attended the WWE tryouts this week.

“The Six Tool Product” Anthony Catena

Hailing from New Hampshire, a student of Brian Fury‘s New England Pro Wrestling Academy…Has competed for Chaotic Wrestling, Rocky Mountain Pro, and Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling (ROW).

Zack Clayton

Six-year pro from New York…Has competed in the Northeast and New York indie circuit since his debut in 2014.

Palmer Cruise

A product of the Michigan indie scene, where he was trained at the House of Truth under former Ring of Honor star Truth Martini...Works Detroit area promotions like Metro Pro Wrestling (MPW) and Xtreme Intense Championship Wrestling (XICW), as well as Canadian indie SuperKick’D, plus AAW, Glory Pro, and more.

“The Darkhorse” Nick Cutler

Indiana’s Nick Cutler is a 12-year veteran of the squared circle with the likes of Indiana’s Pro Wrestling King, plus Chicago Style Wrestling (CSW), Ohio’s Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA), and Tommy Dreamer‘s House of Hardcore.

Matt Delray

Another emerging wrestler who has competed with EVOLVE, House of Hardcore, and Full Impact Pro (FIP)…Competed once in NXT as an enhancement.

Anthony Henry

One half of The Work Horsemen with JD Drake, one of the top veteran tag teams in the US indies…A former MMA fighter, he’s the reigning FIP World Champion, with his reign now over 400 days.

Christi Jaynes

A four-year pro from Brazil who came through the Texas indie scene with Anarchy Championship Wrestling (ACW) and WrestleCircus, it didn’t take her long to enter the Mexican indie scene (with The Crash Lucha) and the UK scene (with IPW, British Empire Wrestling, and Preston City Wrestling)…In 2017, had a tour with Stardom in Japan.

Alex Lee

A former student of Lance Storm, she briefly had a stint in WWE developmental in 2011 (at Florida Championship Wrestling) where she competed as Leah West…A 9-year veteran, she has spent the bulk of her career in Japan with Sendai Girls, Stardom, and OZ Academy.

King Khash

One of the top prospects out of the US Pacific Northwest area, where he’s become a star with DEFY Wrestling, Prestige Wrestling, Without A Cause (WAC), and Canada’s Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW).

Ariel Levy

A rising star in the South American indie scene, he’s become a regular with his home country’s Campeonato Nacional de Lucha Libre (CNL) in Chile, as well as Fenix Lucha Libre (FNX)…Was at the South American WWE Tryouts in December 2018.

The Mane Event (Duke Davis & Ganon Jones Jr.)

A rising tag team in the US indies, The Mane Event 3x International Wrestling Cartel (IWC) Tag Team Champions in Pennsylvania.

The Natural Classics (Stevie & Tome Filip)

One of the best tag teams out of Australia, the Filip Brothers are former Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW) Tag Team Champions, and compete with the likes of MCW and World Series Wrestling (WSW), as well as competing for NJPW when they come Down Under. They’ve only recently begun working in the US, with appearances for ROW and Bar Wrestling.

Aja Perera

A star out of Brazil, Aja Perera has become a top player in the US indies, where she’s a former Shine Nova Champion and one-half of the reigning Shine Tag Team Champions…Has also worked with SHIMMER, RISE Wrestling, Queens of Combat (QOC) and many more.

Jessica Roden

A former model, she’s been training at SoCal Wrestling since early this year.

“Derby Doll” Layne Rosario

A 10-year veteran of the Florida and New York indies, she’s also worked for SHIMMER, Shine, RISE, as well as New York Wrestling Connection (NYWC).

Calvin Tankman

A Midwest monster, he’s a former IWA Mid South Heavyweight Champion….Aside from IWA Mid South, he’s made a huge impact in his home state Indiana’s Bizarro Lucha, where he’s the reigning Bizarro Lucha Luchaversal Champion.

The Tate Twins (Brandon & Brent Tate)

Best known as The Boys, the valets for former ROH World Champion Dalton Castle, the Tate Twins left ROH earlier this year to reignite their own careers as a formidable tag team.

Vicious Vicki

A graduate from the Create-A-Pro Wrestling School, who debuted early this year with WrestlePro in New Jersey.

Stephen Wolf

One of the Midwest’s top young faces, Stephen Wolf has been a standout in recent years with EVOLVE, Glory Pro, AAW, and many more Midwest staples…A tag team specialist as well, he’s won tag team gold with Myron Reed and had a longtime tag team with IMPACT’s Trey Miguel.
