#AndNEW: The Bird And The Bee Wins CHIKARA Tag Titles

On Saturday at CHIKARA Tug of War Season 20 finale, the tag team The Bird and The Bee, featuring Solo Darling and Willow Nightingale, became the new Campeonatos de Parejas Champions in CHIKARA, capturing CHIKARA’s tag team titles. They defeated former tag team champions FIST (Tony Deppen & Travis Huckabee) in a Best 2-out-of-3 Falls Match, ending their reign at 196-days. It’s the culmination of a lengthy war between former tag team partners Solo Darling and Travis Huckabee, who as The Rumblebees, held the Campeonatos de Parejas Championships back in the summer of 2017 before Huckabee turned on his partner.

It also marks the first time an all-female duo has held the CHIKARA Campeonatos de Parejas titles, although not the first time a women’s wrestler has held them. Solo Darling was the first woman to hold the titles in 2017 (with Huckabee), while Princess Kimber Lee has also held them alongside The Whisper for 140-days in 2018 and early 2019. CHIKARA has no women’s division, making all their titles open to wrestlers of any gender. WWE Superstar Ruby Riott (then Heidi Lovelace) held the CHIKARA Young Lions mantle for 427-days from 2014 through 2016, while Kimber Lee became the first woman to hold a major indie’s top championship when she won the CHIKARA Grand Championship for 177-days through 2015 to 2016. In 2016, Team Sendai Girls, captained by Meiko Satomura and featuring DASH Chisako and Cassandra Miyagi (who now competes in Stardom as Andras Miyagi), became the first all-women’s team to win the CHIKARA King of Trios tournament.
