Fresh off their fifth year anniversary show last month that saw “The Prestigious One” Joe Hendry end the record-breaking Y Division Championship reign of “The Iron King” Joe Coffey, Discovery Wrestling (DW) are back at Edinburgh’s Jam House on November 3rd for the Jam House of Horrors. Last year, Discovery hosted a horror-themed show that saw the first (Nightmare on Elm) Street Fight between The Kings of Catch and The Kings of the North, and the first Survival Match (a Zombie Lumberjack Match) that saw Gene Munny eaten alive by zombies. This year though, the card is even more stacked, with the Discovery debut of MVP, the final ever match of Michael Chase, the in-ring debut of Discovery official Sean McLaughlin, and some absolutely huge matches for Discovery’s penultimate event of the year.
Isla Dawn vs Raven Creed
A battle between two of the UK’s most underappreciated female talents will see Isla Dawn and Raven Creed both make their Discovery returns to put on what could very well be a match of the night contender. Isla’s last appearance in a Discovery ring came in September 2018, where she lost to “Fearless” Charlie Morgan, but The White Witch has since gone on to compete on shows for PROGRESS Wrestling and Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW), while also unsuccessfully challenging Rhea Ripley for the NXT UK Women’s Championship. Meanwhile, Raven made her Discovery debut this past March when she entered the 2019 Disco Derby Match with Sammii Jayne‘s Women’s Championship up for grabs. Although it would eventually be Martina who walked away the champion, the unhinged Irish fighter has plied her trade elsewhere, including being a former Over The Top Wrestling (OTT) Women’s Champion until she lost the title to Valkyrie in May. Martina has stated she’ll take on any and all challengers who want to face her for the Women’s Championship (although she may have been slightly intoxicated when she made the challenge), so perhaps we’ll see one of these two ladies coming after The Session Moth’s title when this one’s all said and done.
Prediction: Raven Creed
Damien vs Fraser Thomas
Another potential dark horse to steal the show is the one that pits Damien against Fraser Thomas, with both men possessing quite a similar style, both in terms of in-ring styles and characters. Damien is the reigning Undisputed Champion up in WrestleZone (WZ), currently being in his fourth reign overall to hold the record for most reigns with the championship, while also being a former Tag Team Champion alongside his former Revolution partner Johnny Lions. Speaking of Johnny Lions, the pair teamed up at Discovery’s most recent show in a losing effort to The Kings of Catch, with Lions ambushing Damien backstage after the match, and blaming it on Andy Wild (Wild had refused to reform The Wild Lions for the bout, resulting in Damien stepping in instead). While Damien has made quite a few appearances in Discovery over the years, Fraser Thomas has made just the one appearance thus far, as he made his debut back in July in a Fatal Four Way Match that would eventually be won by Jason Reed. Elsewhere, Thomas has been making headlines as both a wrestler, and also as a broadcaster – he’s currently set to join the commentary team at PROGRESS in January following the departure of Jim Smallman. Until he dons the headset though, he’s got the chance to make a name for himself in Edinburgh. It’s The Revolutionary vs The Lost Boy on November 3rd.
Prediction: Damien
Fatal Four Way Match: Kid Fite & Sean McLaughlin vs Pure Dead Brilliant (Lou King Sharp & Krieger) vs The Kings of Catch (Aspen Faith & Lewis Girvan) vs The Anti-Fun Police (Chief Deputy Dunne & Los Federales Santos Jr.)
Chief Deputy Dunne and Los Federales Santos Jr. came to Discovery Wrestling earlier in the year to put a stop to all the funahhh. Unfortunately for them though, there’s far too much funahhh being had that they’ve been unable to put an end to it. They lost to The Kings of Catch at July’s Camp Discovery show, later attacking referee Sean McLaughlin outside the building afterwards as they blamed him for the loss. Due to the assault, Sean asked Discovery management to give him a match with The Anti-Fun Police, which he was granted as long as he could find himself a tag team partner. Considering how much Discovery roster members there are who aren’t huge fans of The Anti-Fun Police, it didn’t take much persuading for a total of five individuals to step forward as Sean’s partner, in the form of Aspen Faith, Lewis Girvan, Kid Fite, Lou King Sharp, and Krieger. Seizing an opportunity, co-owner Alan Smith instead turned Sean’s debut bout into a Fatal Four Way Match, where he’ll team with trainer Kid Fite to battle The Anti-Fun Police, The Kings of Catch, and Pure Dead Brilliant. There’s a lot of moving parts coming into this one, and with the six other competitors always up for a bit of a laugh and giggle, it could allow Dunne and Santos to easily sneak in a quick victory.
Prediction: The Anti-Fun Police
Jason Reed vs Alexander Dean
Since July, Jason Reed and Alexander Dean have had a bit of a back and forth going on the old Twitter machine. They were both part of a Fatal Four Way Match in July that saw Reed defeat Dean, Fraser Thomas, and The Sam Barbour Experience to retain his WrestleZone Tri-Counties Championship, and things would only get more heated going forward though, as the pair have taken to social media to vent their frustrations towards the other. A recent comment from The Catch Provocateur claimed that Jason is nothing more than an Aldi Alexander Dean, which isn’t true whatsoever – he’s clearly an Aldi Donald Trump. Get your facts straight before making accusations. Reed fought back by saying that he stepped up to the plate to take over while Dean took a hiatus from wrestling, something that you’d agree with if you’ve been following his career since he burst on to the scene. It’s a huge singles match, but only one loudmouth can pick up the victory in the Jam House.
Prediction: Jason Reed
BT Gunn vs Joe Coffey
Now that he’s no longer the Y Division Champion, Joe Coffey now finds himself at the back of the queue, but no way is that going to stop him from scratching and clawing his way back up the pecking order within Discovery Wrestling. The Iron King’s first match since losing his coveted championship sees him battle an old rival in BT Gunn, with the pair having previously had an epic encounter at Insane Championship Wrestling’s (ICW) Fear & Loathing X event in November 2017 that saw The Oddity become the first Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion. They have also met in Discovery before though, with Coffey successfully defending the Y Division strap against both Gunn and Aspen Faith in May 2018, with Faith adding himself to the match by cashing in his Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational Tournament title opportunity. This will be a barnstormer for sure, and it could very well determine the first challenger for new champ Joe Hendry once he’s returned from business elsewhere.
Prediction: Joe Coffey
Submissions Match For Fierce Females Championship – Sammii Jayne (C) vs Angel Hayze
In a Discovery Wrestling first, we’ll see a Submissions Match at the Jam House of Horrors as Angel Hayze goes face to face with her mentor Sammii Jayne. After training at the Premier British Wrestling (PBW) Academy for a number of years, Hayze would also begin training under the tutelage of Sammii at the Fierce Females (FF) Academy, leading to a Discovery debut back in January where she defeated fellow Sammii Jayne-influenced star Ashley Vega. While Angel is a terrific talent in her own right, Jayne did put forward a word for her to Discovery management, which made it that bit more interesting when The Young Lioness eliminated the inaugural Women’s Champion from March’s Disco Derby Match. Since that moment, the pair have come to blows on two other occasions, with Angel first scoring an upset victory over The Main Event Empress in July, before they were both unsuccessful in a bid to capture the Women’s Championship from Martina just last month. Now, they’re coming head to head in a Submissions Match, which may benefit Sammii Jayne just that little bit more. As previously mentioned with the Isla Dawn/Raven Creed bout, this one could very well be used to decide the next in line to challenge for the Women’s Championship.
Prediction: Sammii Jayne
Intergender Match: The Sensational Scenebirds (Christopher Saynt & Emily Hayden) vs Theo Doros & Ayesha Raymond
For one whole year, Christopher Saynt and Theo Doros have been at war with one another, starting at last November’s 48 Months Later when Doros physically removed himself from The House of Saynt by ambushing The Patriarch of the HoS, despite just defeating Grant McIvor to retain his spot in the group. From that moment, Saynt knew he had a problem on his hands, but the bigger problem came for Discovery management. They couldn’t have a show go by without the former allies trying to rip each other apart, no matter if they were beating the living hell out of each other in an Unsanctioned Match, or choosing each other’s opponents in a Pick Your Poison Match (Doros would choose his Age of Orion partner Michael Chase to face Saynt, while Saynt would choose the monstrous KUMA as the opponent for The Superior Cypriot). They’re now set for one final battle at the Christmas Disco on December 1st, with that match set to have a very special stipulation as chosen by the winner of this match here. Coming to Christopher Saynt’s aid is his Sensational Scenebirds pal Emily Hayden, while the returning Ayesha Raymond will partner up with Theo Doros to even the playing field. Who’ll get the chance to pick the stip for the final showdown in the Saynt/Doros rivalry?
Prediction: The Sensational Scenebirds
The Munndertaker vs Sugar Dunkerton
One year on from Gene Munny being brutally murdered at the hands of Sugar Dunkerton and a gang of zombies, The Munndertaker will get the opportunity to exact revenge for his twin brother as he takes on Suge D. Hailing from Death Valley, Milton Keynes, The Deadmunn has terrorized the Discovery roster throughout 2019, firstly defeating Martina in January, before going on to target the likes of Shady Nattrass in later months. He made his presence felt in Dunkerton’s match with Jason Reed last month as he made his way to the ringside area, eventually resulting in Reed picking up the big victory. Munny had his soul ripped apart last November, and now has the opportunity to do the exact same to the man responsible for the death of Gene. Who knows, if he’s successful in this match, we may see The Sexual Gammon brought back to life. We’ve already seen The Munndertaker act like Gene on a few occasions – is it possible The Munndertaker and Gene Munny have been the same possible this whole time?!
Prediction: The Munndertaker
Michael Chase’s Retirement Match: Michael Chase vs MVP
The end of the chase is upon us as Michael Chase has his final two matches this weekend, firstly taking on Theo Doros at a Reckless Intent Wrestling (RI) show in Livingston on the Saturday, and then heading over to Edinburgh on the Sunday for Discovery Wrestling to battle former WWE United States Champion MVP in his last ever match. It’s been an incredible journey for Chase thus far, as we detailed in a previous article when he initially announced his plans for retirement at the end of May, and it’s even more incredible that he’s achieved all these things considering he was involved in a collision with a bus at a young age as he detailed in a sit-down interview with Discovery management’s Alan Smith. He’s done all there is to do in Reckless Intent, a company he helped build the foundations for both in the ring and behind the scenes, and has also made his way around the country in some huge matches, including an unsuccessful challenge at the ICW Tag Team Championships against The P.O.D (Rampage Brown and Ashton Smith) in March 2018. His opponent is no slouch either, with MVP having held plenty gold during his time in WWE, while also being the inaugural New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) IWGP Intercontinental Champion. It’ll be a sad occasion for sure, as Michael Chase brings an end to his illustrious career.
Prediction: MVP
