It’s that time of year once again, as Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) returns to Glasgow’s SWG3 venue for the twelfth installment of their annual Fear & Loathing extravaganza. This year is slightly different than previous years however, as ICW Fear & Loathing XII will take place over two nights as opposed to one, bringing the insanity to Glasgow for a full weekend. Night one will see the ICW debut of IMPACT Wrestling star Sami Callihan, the crowning of the 2019 Kings of Insanity, and the third Good Housekeeping Match as both the Zero-G Championship and Liam Thomson’s sink are up for grabs in the evening’s main event.
VIP Early Entry Bonus Match: Mark Coffey & The Power Forward vs Andy Wild & More Than Hype (LJ Cleary, Darren Kearney & Nathan Martin)
Before Mark Coffey and Andy Wild come to blows in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match on the second night, they’ll both lead teams of four into battle for the VIP pre-show, with Mark being backed by his three masked goons in The Power Forward while Andy will be joined by the Irish trio known as More Than Hype (LJ Cleary, Darren Kearney, and Nathan Martin). The history between Coffey and Wild goes back to May’s King of Hawners tournament, where the latter teamed with Aaron Echo and Kieran Kelly as part of The Wild Boys to defeat The Power Forward in the opening round of the tournament. That result never sat well with the current NXT UK Tag Team Champion, with Coffey leading his masked troops into war with The Dad Bod God, pinning the reigning UEWA European Heavyweight Champion back at Shug’s Hoose Party 6. The Stovie Superman isn’t willing to back away from a fight when he sees one though, and so he made the challenge to face Mark in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match, which was made official for the weekend. Depending on how much impact the two cause on each other here, they may not even make it to night two. Keep in mind we still don’t have a clue who’s under the masks alongside Mark Coffey. It could be anyone – no-one knows what they’re capable of when let loose, apart from Coffey.
Prediction: Mark Coffey & The Power Forward
Kay Lee Ray & Viper vs Angel Hayze & Xia Brookside
Three talents from the NXT UK women’s division will be making their way to Fear & Loathing, as Viper teams with the reigning NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray to battle Xia Brookside and the young upstart Angel Hayze. This match came around after Angel scored an upset victory over Viper at France 2000 this past Sunday in what was just her second appearance in an ICW ring. That’s when The Queen of Insanity entered to drop the bombshell on Angel, who was clearly gobsmacked after finding out she’d be performing on one of the biggest events on the European wrestling calendar. While this will be the first interaction between Angel and Xia, their opponents are no stranger to one another. In fact, Kay Lee Ray and Viper were actually on opposing sides of the ring just eleven months ago at Fear & Loathing XI, where KLR captured the ICW Women’s World Championship from The Vixen of Violence in a violent Queen of Insanity Match. They may look to be on the same page right now, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be playing happy families come Fear & Loathing. After all, Viper did headbutt Angel after their match at France 2000. Perhaps The Babe of Brutality will be out to make an example out of her own partner in the hopes of earning herself a shot at the NXT UK Women’s Championship.
Prediction: Angel Hayze & Xia Brookside
Aaron Echo vs Alexander Dean
Alexander Dean made his ICW return back in June, losing his UEWA European Heavyweight Championship to Lionheart in what turned out to be the final match for the then-ICW World Heavyweight Champion. Since then, Dean has gone on to start a bit of a rivalry with one Aaron Echo, but it wasn’t always meant to be this way. At a Fight Club taping at the end of August, the tough Irishman was originally meant to face Ricky Knight Jr. in a rematch from their epic classic at Shug’s Hoose Party 6, however, Mr. Pure Action was unable to compete that night. That’s where Aaron Echo comes into the picture, as he defeated The Catch Provocateur that evening before losing a rematch at the following month’s tapings. The score is currently 1-1 between these two, with the rubber match being signed for night one. Alexander Dean has demanded that new ICW commissioner Carmel Jacob have a second opponent lined up for him after he’s disposed of The King of Benidorm in short order, but Aaron Echo can’t be taken lightly. One mistake from Dean could result in him being hit with one of those nasty rolling elbows. However, this is Alexander Dean we’re talking about, he doesn’t make any mistakes when he steps foot inside that ring.
Prediction: Alexander Dean
Scheme Lumberjack Match: Grado vs Ravie Davie
For the past few months, Ravie Davie and Grado have had quite a few issues between themselves, with Davie attacking the former World Heavyweight Champion in a parking lot a few weeks ago after defeating him at a Fight Club taping. More recently though, The Fresh Prince of Drumoyne Square has vented his frustrations at Grado for forgetting where he originated from. Longtime ICW fans will remember just how popular Grado was when he first arrived in the company, and that’s because he was the ultimate underdog. He came from the Tap End of Stevenson, and was able to make something of himself. Grado had forgotten all about having to fend for himself because he was off getting television crews filming him for BBC documentaries. Now, Ravie Davie wants to remind him of what it means to come from the scheme, so he only wants to face The Chubby Wee Chancer under one condition. He wants to ensure Grado can’t leave the ringside area, which is why he’ll surround the ring with some of the toughest and meanest lads he’s ever met. It’s the first-ever Scheme Lumberjack Match at ICW Fear & Loathing XII!
Prediction: Ravie Davie
The Kinky Pinky Party (Jack Jester, Sha Samuels & Noam Dar) vs The Kings of the North (Bonesaw, Damien Corvin & Adam Maxted)
The Kinky Party were originally supposed to collide with The Kings of the North on this card but with neither team willing to wait until the SWG3 weekend, management made the decision to pull the match forward to France 2000. However, Bonesaw and Damien Corvin instead ambushed Jack Jester and Sha Samuels in the backstage area, eventually bringing the brawl down to ringside where they tied Jester to the ropes to focus on taking on The East-End Butcher. Before they could do any serious damage though, Noam Dar ran out to run of Irelands’ most dangerous duo. The Scottish Supernova, who was making his ICW return that evening against fellow NXT UK star Kenny Williams, made the challenge for a six-man tag team match on night one – The Kinky Pinky Party against The Kings of the North, with Adam Maxted returning to team with the former Over The Top Wrestling (OTT) Tag Team Champions. A huge six-man tag team match for sure.
Prediction: The Kinky Pinky Party
BT Gunn vs Sami Callihan
When it was revealed that Sami Callihan would be making his debut for ICW at the November weekender, the thought of who he would face swirled around the minds of ICW audiences. Would it be a returning Mikey Whiplash? Perhaps it would be a current star, such as Jack Jester or current World Heavyweight Champion Stevie Boy? Maybe a wildcard choice of Lou King Sharp? But then, you remember who’s ready to return from his pelvis injury – BT Gunn. The Oddity hasn’t been in an ICW ring since his Last Man Standing Match with Kez Evans back at Shug’s Hoose Party, but a video he sent to ICW management revealed that he’s ready to come back (he has since returned to in-ring competition in other promotions). Gunn didn’t want his first match back in an ICW ring to be at anywhere other than Fear & Loathing, so who better to face than the debuting Sami Callihan? While it may be a tough test for BT seeing as he’s not long recovered from an injury that left him unable to walk for a number of walks, this is the same BT Gunn who’s competed in numerous Deathmatches throughout his career. He’s never been one to shy away from brutality, which is exactly what he’ll be getting as The Callihan Death Machine heads for the Insane Fight Club. At the time of writing, it’s set as a normal singles match, but who wouldn’t want to see these two tear it up in some sort of weapons-based brawl?
Prediction: Sami Callihan
Kenny Williams vs Jordan Devlin
Fresh off a successful return to ICW at their first GONZO event, Jordan Devlin makes his Fear & Loathing debut as he battles Kenny Williams. At GONZO, Kenny was victorious over Jordan’s PROGRESS Tag Team Championships partner Scotty Davis, who was making his Scottish wrestling debut that evening. The Lucky Yin has had quite the 2019 in ICW thus far, making a fool of all the younger talents by labelling them ‘forever trainees’, and confronting NXT star KUSHIDA after The Time Splitter defeated Jackie Polo at Shug’s Hoose Party 6. While he’s been making waves in ICW, The Irish Ace has been off in OTT, where he had a sensational rivalry with David Starr that saw Devlin lose the World Championship to The Product this past Saturday. Kenny is coming into this one riding a huge wave of momentum after pinning the returning Noam Dar at France 2000 this past Sunday following a distraction from The Kings of the North – can he continue this sort of momentum as ICW winds down following an excellent 2019?
Prediction: Kenny Williams
Glasgow Street Fight: Kid Fite vs Paul Robinson
When Paul Robinson made his return to ICW earlier this year, no-one could’ve expected the rivalry that would ensue with Kid Fite. Tensions between the pair began at Shug’s Hoose Party 6 following Robbo’s victory over one of Fite’s proteges, Krieger. With the inaugural PROGRESS Wrestling Proteus Champion claiming there wasn’t anyone in the ICW locker room who was as hard as he was, Fite stepped into the ring, and decked Robinson in one swift punch. In recent years, it’s safe to say The Demolition Man has slightly fallen down the pecking order within ICW but now that he’s back doing what he does best, it looks like Glasgow may very well be in for one hell of a Street Fight as two of the UK’s rowdiest performers to head to head.
Prediction: Kid Fite
ICW Zero-G Championship & Liam Thomson’s sink – Good Housekeeping Match: Liam Thomson (c) vs Wolfgang
It’s winner takes all in the main event of night one, as Liam Thomson puts both his Zero-G Championship and ‘that particular sink’ up for grabs in the third Good Housekeeping Match against Wolfgang. These two have been on-again, off-again rivals since 2017, with Wolfgang winning the first Good Housekeeping Match between them, taking away Liam’s sink, washing machine, and house. When The King of Sink Style returned from injury last summer though, he quickly set his sights on the NXT UK superstar, defeating him in the second Good Housekeeping Match to regain his beloved sink. Over the last few months, Liam has been able to pick up his first taste of gold in an ICW ring as he defeated Joe Coffey to lift the Zero-G Championship at Shug’s Hoose Party. Thomson has everything right now, but it could very well all come crashing down if Wolfgang has his way at Fear & Loathing XII.
Prediction: Liam Thomson
