In the closing moments of the debut episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho united a stable around him in a war against The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes. Jericho has always been a lone wolf since joining All Elite Wrestling earlier this year, but now that he has the gold, he needs more people watching his back. The new unit features his tag team partners for the main event, Santana & Ortiz (formerly LAX in IMPACT Wrestling), as well as indie sensation Sammy Guevara – who had issues with Cody in the show’s opening match. But the big surprise came when the group’s muscle arrived, in the form of Lucha Underground Champion Jake Hager, formerly known as former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jake Swagger.

With Kenny Omega taken out of action early in the match by a returning Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Santana & Ortiz controlled much of the remainder of the match, although the brothers Jackson had a close comeback at one point. But after the win, the trio began to beat down the Bucks. With Omega wounded backstage, it was Cody Rhodes who came to even the odds for his Elite friends. It was then that Guevara came down to lend his hand to Jericho’s side and take out his conquerer earlier that night. Dustin Rhodes came down to assist his brother to even the odds again at four aside. Jake Hager made his debut, but soon aligned himself with Jericho’s side, and the group decimated The Elite as the show came to its halt.
