On Wednesday, October 2, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) debuts on TNT with AEW Dynamite, it’s live 2-hour show. One of the men who will be part of that AEW roster on Wednesday is the Prince of the Indies, Joey Janela. So this coming Monday, Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) – the promotion that has exploded in the past year as one of the new top players in the US indies – is throwing a special farewell event for Joey Janela with Joey Janela’s Curtain Call. Janela has been a huge part of GCW’s success the past few years, as one of its top stars and hosts of multiple GCW banner events, like the hugely successful Joey Janela’s Spring Break events over WrestleMania week. The New Jersey event is already sold out but will be available on PPV on Fite.tv at 8pm EST.
Special Guest: Super Humman
Over the past year, one of the most viral Social Media celebrities amongst wrestling fans has been superfan and amateur stuntman Super Humman. The young fan has thrilled fans with his short videos of him performing classic hardcore wrestling spots on everything from tables to barbed wire to microwaves. He first found notoriety when he was featured on the comedy show Tosh.0 back in 2016, but now his eager enthusiasm has infected wrestling fans everywhere, including his classic disclaimer and battle cry “This is for all the Juggalos and Jugalettes, Don’t Try This At Home and I hope you like it. WHOOP WHOOP! F**k. THIS. SHIT!” He gained a fan early with Joey Janela, who even worked Super Humman’s tag lines into a few matches this year. No word yet on whether he’ll just be involved in an angle or actually competing, but this has probably made the young fan’s whole year.

Jungle Boy vs. Jake Atlas
Two of the top prospects of the West Coast indie scene of the past few years, both entering new levels of their career. Jungle Boy was discovered by GCW last year after a few years in the West Coast indies and exploded, finally finding himself also signing with AEW. On Monday he’s having a rematch of his first-round match-up from the past weekend’s PWG Battle of Los Angeles, as he faces another exploding West Coast star in Jake Atlas. Atlas has expanded from working West Coast promotions like PCW ULTRA, DEFY Wrestling, Bar Wrestling, and All-Pro Wrestling (APW), to now being a frequent competitor in the East with GCW, AAW, and RISE, as well as in the UK. Atlas knocked Jungle Boy out of BOLA last week, so this should be an unbelievable rematch in what will be Jungle Boy’s last indie match as he heads to AEW Dynamite with his pal, Luchasaurus.
Chris Dickinson vs. Matthew Justice
Chris Dickinson has become a powerhouse on the US indies the past year – not that he was in the shadows before, but he was almost best known for his tag team, Doom Patrol with Jaka, than his stellar singles matches. But now solo, Dickinson is reminding the world why he’s such a renowned beast in the ring. He faces a Midwest veteran who is also having a banner year, in Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW) Intense Champion Matthew Justice, who is a fierce fighter himself. This will be an intensely physical affair – something both men and GCW are known for – that could lead to further encounters.
Teddy Hart vs. Alex Zayne vs. Blake Christian vs. Chris Bey vs. Jordan Oliver vs. Shane Mercer
An absolute insane six-man scramble match, featuring some solid veterans with some of today’s most exciting new stars. Teddy Hart‘s redemption of the past few years is in huge part to Joey Janela and GCW taking a chance on the reformed former bad boy, and he’s taken this new chance to become the star he was always destined to be. “The Iron Demon” Shane Mercer has been tearing up IWA Mid South since 2008, where he’s a former Heavyweight Champion, but he made his GCW debut this January at 400 Degreez, where he won a 7-man scramble. Since then, he’s proved he belongs. Alex Zayne and Blake Christian have both become viral sensations since making their GCW debuts this summer, with both creating an indie rivalry that is spanning multiple promotions now, including appearing on night one of PWG Battle of Los Angeles in non-tournament action. Chris Bey is one of the West Coast’s top indie prospects, where he’s the reigning Future Stars of Wrestling Heavyweight Champion in Las Vegas while appearing for Championship Wrestling From Hollywood, PCW ULTRA, and others. He’s also made appearances with both IMPACT Wrestling and Ring of Honor. Jordan Oliver is only 20 years old, but he’s making waves thanks to his last year with Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), where he’s the reigning CZW Wired Champion. He’s also broken into the mainstream as part of the faction Injustice in Major League Wrestling (MLW). This will likely be the most GIFed match of Monday night.
David Starr vs. Tony Deppen
These two men have been two of the most underrated wrestlers of the past year. David Starr has been a huge part of Beyond Wrestling‘s outstanding 2019 and captured the CZW World Heavyweight Championship, as well as the Defiant Wrestling and International Pro Wrestling (IPW) World titles in the UK. He was the RevPro Undisputed British Cruiserweight Champion for nearly a year, and this year won the PROGRESS Super Strong Style 16 tournament. He’s facing off against GCW’s gatekeeper, Tony Deppen, who has without herald become one of the most solid grapplers in the US indies today. He’s competed primarily in GCW and CHIKARA, but he’s taken his wares around the country, fighting in Black Label Pro, Beyond Wrestling, ICW New York and elsewhere, including his first time as part of PWG’s BOLA.
Orange Cassidy vs. “All Ego” Ethan Page
Orange Cassidy has been another indie star who had a breakout year. He’s been a veteran for over a decade, but the past year all of his hardwork has paid off – he’s joining Joey Janela in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) on October 2. On Monday night, he faces off against another indie veteran in IMPACT Wrestling’s Ethan Page. Despite both men having long careers in the North American indies, this is the first time they’ve faced off in singles action.
GCW World Championship: Nick Gage (c) vs. Matt Tremont vs. Orin Veidt vs. SHLAK
While Nick Gage has just passed 650-days as the GCW World Champion, sadly he’s had to spend the past couple weeks without his title – it was stolen by Rickey Shane Page. But the GCW World Champion is still defending this championship on Monday night, in a Fatal Four Way – with heavy emphasis on fatal. His first opponent is a former GCW World Champion (and CZW World Champion) himself, in “The Bulldozer” Matt Tremont, one of the toughest deathmatch competitors of the past decade. Orin Veidt is a star on the rise, as the 25-year old made his GCW debut earlier this year and has been impressive taking on many hardcore veterans. The fourth competitor is the monster known only as SHLAK. SHLAK is a fierce competitor who at times seems more intent on causing damage – to his opponent or himself – than winning matches, but with GCW World Championship gold on the line, perhaps this will be his night.
Joey Janela vs. Jimmy Lloyd
It’s somewhat of a passing of the indie torch – “The Bad Boy” vs. “The Different Boy”. In many ways, Jimmy Lloyd is the heir apparent of Janela – a rising young force on the independents who first made his name with his hardcore stuff but has increasingly shown an aptitude for so much more. With Janela heading off to the land of the majors, this will be a big showcase for Lloyd to show just how “different” he is.
Expect a lot surprise announced matches and competitors on Monday night, as GCW always pulls out some outstanding unannounced match-ups. With it being Joey Janela’s farewell to the indies show, expect some surprise cameos and possible competitors in a night that may as well be sponsored by White Claw.
