As we are told week in and week out, Clash of Champions is the only night all titles are on the line in the WWE. And with that being the truth of the night. We unsurprisingly saw a slew of new champions as #AndNEW was the feel of the night at Clash of Champions. Here are the new champions that have led us to this overhaul for the tag division of the WWE.
Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode win the Raw Tag Team Championships
The fresh new team of Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode got their championship opportunity that they had earned in the Tag Team Turmoil match weeks back on Raw. With that shot, they faced the Raw Tag Team Champions, Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman. As we know, these two men had a match later on in the night that would see them face each other for the Universal Championship. But before that was this match that kicked off the PPV. Ziggler and Roode picked up the victory when Strowman bull rushed Roode into Rollins, leaving him down and giving Roode the chance to hit the Glorious DDT to capture the victory. This is Ziggler and Roode’s first reign together.
The Revival win the SmackDown Tag Team Championships
Here we go again. The Revival are now the first team to hold the NXT, Raw, and SmackDown Tag Team Championships with this victory. Two parts of the new faction, #FTRKO, came out victorious and started if the night for the team in the best way possible. Both Big E and Xavier Woods came into the match injured but would not use that as an excuse. When the match came to a close, Big E was hit with a Shatter Machine on the outside, leaving Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder alone with the injured Woods. They would then hit the Shatter Machine on him but would not be done there. Dawson put on the submission to put even more pressure on the knee and this would be all it takes. Woods tapped, leaving The Revival as the new tag team champions.
It was a quiet night on the singles side, as all champions retained in plenty of entertaining matches. However, there is plenty to be excited about going into Raw tomorrow night.
