This Saturday, MLW invades Dallas for the first time, presenting the first-ever War Chamber event. War Chamber is replacing War Games, which we’ll get more into later. This event is a Fusion Taping and will feature a huge main event, along with a grudge match for the MLW Tag Titles.
Zenshi vs. Jordan Oliver
Jordan Oliver recently joined Injustice, and is looking to bring Justice to MLW along with Myron Reed and Kotto Brazil. Oliver is 3-0 in singles competition in MLW but has a tough test against him in Dallas. The most recent addition to the Middleweight roster, Zenshi, is looking to impress. He’s had a rocky start in MLW, losing his first match, later defeating El Hijo De LA Park, but at Never Say Never, he was in a losing effort against Injustice. Oliver was apart of that winning team, so these two have had brief interactions before they face off for the first time.
Timothy Thatcher vs. Douglas James
Timothy Thatcher recently debuted in MLW, and while he lost to Davey Boy Smith Jr., it was a breakout performance and showed Thatcher can hang with the best of them. Thatcher’s grappling style is like no other, but if there’s anyone to match the style (or come close), it’s Douglas James. Douglas James will be making his MLW debut, as he recently signed with the company. James is a former kickboxer and No Gi Jiujitsu World Champion. He was undefeated during his kickboxing career, and there’s no way he plans on losing the biggest match of his pro wrestling career. Thatcher has a tough test ahead of him, but can he out grapple the Jiujitsu world champion and avoid an 0-2 start in MLW?
Los Parks (LA Park and Hijo De LA Park) w/ Salina De La Renta vs. Magnus and Septimo Dragon
Los Parks are returning to tag competition, as LA Park teams with his son yet again. The duo will have Salina De La Renta in their corner, which is no good for their competition. Everyone can thank Salina for making this match happen, as she’s bringing Magnus and Septimo Dragon to America, both of which will be making their MLW debuts. Magnus is actually the cousin of Caristico, who many will know as the original Sin Cara in WWE. Septimo Dragon is known for being one of the breakout stars in Mexico this year and will be looking to impress in America. All that’s known for certain is that this will be a wild lucha tag, which should set the NYTEX Sports Centre on fire.
Bunkhouse Match: Mance Warner vs. Jimmy Havoc w/ Salina De La Renta
Mance Warner has been fighting against Salina De La Renta for months now, and it comes to a head in MLW’s first “Bunkhouse Match”. Mance Warner is straight out of jail, as Salina got him arrested for chasing around herself, Jimmy, and LA Park with a Chainsaw! It wasn’t disclosed who got Ol’ Mancer out of jail, but he’s coming to Dallas to end things with Salina once and for all. MLW states that anything goes in a bunkhouse match, and the wrestlers can fight all over the arena and use any weapons they want. Jimmy Havoc certainly has his array of weapons to use, and expect Salina to have a few tricks up her sleeve as well.
Austin Aries vs. Brian Pillman Jr.
Back in June, Austin Aries debuted in MLW and stated he wanted to go after the Middleweight Championship. Teddy Hart, the current Middleweight Champion, has been enjoying over 250 days as champion. Aries has wins over Adam Brooks and Ace Austin and will be looking to continue his momentum against Hart Foundation member, Brian Pillman Jr. Pillman has been having some rough times lately, as he couldn’t get the job done against Alexander Hammerstone to become the inaugural MLW Openweight Champion, and just two months ago, The Dynasty defeated Pillman and Teddy to win the MLW Tag Titles. Pillman is coming into one of the biggest, if not the biggest match of his career against Austin Aries. If Aries can defeat a member of The Hart Foundation, it certainly cements his case for a shot at Hart’s Middleweight Championship.
2 out of 3 Falls for the MLW World Tag Team Championships: The Dynasty (MJF and Richard Holliday) (c) vs. The Hart Foundation (Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Teddy Hart)
The Hart Foundation defeated The Lucha Bros to win the MLW Tag Championships but rarely defended them before losing to The Dynasty in a ladder match. Davey Boy and Hart were the ones to win the titles, however Pillman and Hart lost the titles. The trio has been feuding with The Dynasty for months now, and it seems like this rivalry is finally coming to an end, when The Hart Foundation gets their rematch in a 2 out of 3 falls match. MJF is no stranger to gold in MLW, as he was the inaugural Middleweight Champion. He recruited a crew of men who think the same way he does, that being Alexander Hammerstone and Richard Holliday, together known as The Dynasty. MJF and Holliday usually aren’t ones to play by the rules, so it’ll be interesting to see if that plays a factor in any of the falls during this match. Both teams know each other very well, so this match can easily go either way.
War Chamber: Contra Unit (Jacob Fatu, Joseph Samael, Kwon, and Simon Gotch) vs. Von Erichs, Tom Lawlor, and Low Ki w/ Kevin Von Erich
Finally, the match the entire show is built around! The rules are simple, two men start in the ring for 5 minutes, and a coin toss determines who comes in every 2 minutes. Once everyone enters, either team can win by pinfall, submission, or surrender. This isn’t your usual steel cage, as the top will be covered in barbed wire. Contra Debuted in MLW during a steel cage match between Tom Lawlor and Low Ki, but Low Ki has put everything behind him and is starting fresh in MLW. He once was managed by Salina De La Renta, and never followed the rules during his World Title reign, however, he’s coming to War Chamber to prove he’s a new man, and what happened in the past stays in the past. The Von Erichs has impressed everyone since their debut in MLW, and their alliance with Tom Lawlor really boosted their careers early on. If Contra wasn’t dangerous enough already, they introduced a new member, Kwon. War Chamber will be the first time Kwon is in action, and if he’s anything like Fatu, Samael, or Gotch, the opposing team will have a hard time getting the victory. Fatu has proved he’s the most dominant man in MLW, and putting him inside a cage wrapped in barbed wire is a scary, scary image. Don’t forget Kevin Von Erich, who will be cornering his boys, along with Lawlor and Low Ki during this match. Kevin better watch his back, as Contra isn’t afraid of attacking anyone. None of these men have experienced anything like this match, so it’ll be interesting to see how they all react. Will Contra continue to control MLW, or will The Von Erichs, Tom Lawlor, and Low Ki finally get some revenge?
