On the first night of AAW’s fourth annual Jim Lynam Memorial Tournament, Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett, better known as the Besties In The World, won the AAW Tag Team Titles for the third time in their careers.
The match featured both the reigning champs Latin American eXchange (Santana & Ortiz) and the impromptu challenge of the AEW tag-team the Lucha Bros and was in the main event. With an elimination stipulation added to the match, the Besties were able to outlast both teams, beating LAX for the title win. Their victory celebration was ruined, however, by their former valet Scarlett Bordeaux and a debuting Killer Kross to close out the show.

The Besties, known in both North America and Europe for their iconic entrance, have been mainstays in AAW for years. In fact, the duo has gone on record to say they consider AAW their home despite being St. Louis natives. After their last tag title reign ended during All In weekend, the boys have remained the faces of the tag division all year. The Besties put on classic matches against both WRSTLING, and The Rascalz in AAW, and recently debuted for EVOLVE Wrestling for EVOLVE 134.

In a preview clip from their upcoming mini-documentary, the team stated their desire to become the longest-reigning tag champs in AAW history. Currently having the 2nd longest reign behind Oi4K, Vega & Fitchett have spent over 500 days with the belts over the past four years. With 80 days to go until breaking the record, this goal is looking very achievable for the independent superstars. For now, though, congratulations to Mat Fitchett and Davey Vega for once again standing atop the mountain that is AAW.
