This Saturday sees the second major PPV for All Elite Wrestling, All Out, following two special events over the summer after this spring’s debut PPV, Double or Nothing. A slight bump in the road with the Jon Moxley injury news, but still a full card with lots of storyline potential to help lead AEW into their October television debut on TNT. AEW All Out will air live on Bleacher Report Live as well as on PPV on Fite.tv.
The Buy-In Kickoff Show
Casino Battle Royale for #1 Contendership to AEW Women’s Championship
On an episode of Road to All Out, it was announced that the Casino Battle Royale would be returning, this time featuring the women of AEW. Not all of the names have been announced, but the known entrants are Jazz, Ivelisse, Britt Baker, Teal Piper, Sadie Gibbs, and “Big Swole” Aerial Monroe. Back at Double or Nothing, Hangman Page won the Casino Battle Royale, earning himself a shot at the AEW Championship at this event. The first AEW Women’s World Champion will be crowned at the first AEW On TNT, so this match has big implications on the challenger for that title. With Riho and Shida having a match on the main show, other names that could be featured here are Allie, Awesome Kong, Brandi Rhodes, Kylie Rae (depending on her current health status), Leva Bates, Nyla Rose, and Penelope Ford. It’s not that hard to do the math and figure out that’s not 21 names, so there will definitely be a lot of surprises!
Private Party (Marq Quen & Isaiah Kennedy) vs. Angelico & Jack Evans
Both of these teams are desperate for a win, as Private Party are 0-1, and Angelico and Jack Evans being 0-2. Private Party had a standout performance at Fyter Fest, a match that also took place during The Buy In. Angelico and Jack Evans got to shine at AEW’s first PPV, Double or Nothing, but ultimately lost to Best Friends. Recently at Fight for the Fallen, they had a chance to be in the match here on All Out for the first round bye in the tag tournament, but again, they fell short. Private Party could really use a win, as they’re facing The Young Bucks on the October 9th edition of AEW on TNT. This has potential to steal the show, as both teams are extremely talented, and will be doing anything to pick up their first win in AEW.
AEW All Out
Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy & Marko Stunt vs. SCU (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky)
This match was recently announced for the event and rounds out the main card. SCU has been doing great things, whether it’s in their trios work, or as a tag team. As a trio, they’re 1-0, however, they’re 0-2 in tag action. This will be the first time we see the trio of Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, and Marko Stunt. Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy make up the team of A Boy and his Dinosaur, but through bits in BTE, and most recently at Fight for the Fallen, it was shown that Marko Stunt is the third man in this group. Last year at All In, Marko Stunt had a breakout performance in the Over Budget Battle Royal. Stunt has only competed in the first Casino Battle Royale for AEW, so this is his chance to shine on the big PPV. SCU has way more experience as a team, so that should benefit them in this one, but never count out A Boy and his Dinosaur (with Marko Stunt).
Riho vs. Hikaru Shida
Immediately at Double or Nothing, we were introdued to the JOSHI talent, who became an instant hit. At that event, Riho and Shida were on the same team in a winning effort. Later at Fyter Fest, Riho picked up a massive win in a three-way but lost in a tag match at Fight for the Fallen. Shida hasn’t been seen since Double or Nothing, but she’s coming back for another big PPV match. Everyone is in for a treat with this one, as these two can easily take home match of the night. There’s a possibility that the winner of this match will face the winner of the Casino Battle Royale to crown the first AEW Women’s Champion, but nothing has been confirmed. This match can easily go either way, and it’s impossible to pick a winner.
The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) vs. Best Friends (Trent Baretta & Chuck Taylor)
Many were confused when matches on Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen were “for the right to fight for a first round bye in the AEW Tag Championship tournament”, but the stipulation is very interesting, and ultimately ends here. The Dark Order debuted at Double or Nothing, attacking The Best Friends after their victory over Jack Evans and Angelico. Both teams won their respective three-way tags to advance to All Out, and now it’s time for these two to settle things. Chuck and Trent are looking for revenge on The Dark Order for being humiliated on AEW’s first PPV, however, Player Uno and Stu Grayson are coming to prove while they’re the most dominant team in AEW. Due to how stacked this card is, this match is seemingly getting lost in the shuffle, however, watch out for this one as the sleeper on the show.
Joey Janela vs. Jimmy Havoc vs. Darby Allin
Fight for the Fallen opened with a wild six-man tag match, and these three were on the losing side. After the match, they all lost it and brawled in the back, leading to this match. Joey Janela and Jimmy Havoc are mostly known for their hardcore work, while Darby Allin became a star in his match with Cody at Fyter Fest, and showed he never quits and will do anything to pick up a win. Joey Janela was in the main event at Fyter Fest, as he lost to Jon Moxley in an absolutely brutal Unsanctioned Match. Jimmy Havoc hasn’t really had a chance to shine yet, but his most notable moment comes courtesy of him stapling Joey Janela’s lit cigarette to his head at Double or Nothing. No stipulation has been announced for this one, but as we know there are No DQ’s in triple threat matches. All three of these men would benefit from a big win on PPV, so who knows what they’ll pull out in order to do so.
Cody Rhodes w/ ?? vs. Shawn Spears w/ Tully Blanchard
Shawn Spears made his AEW debut at Double or Nothing in the #10 spot of the Casino Battle Royale, but the gimmick we once all knew and loved soon faded away. At Fyter Fest, Spears shocked the world by hitting his former best friend, Cody Rhodes, on the top of the head with a chair, busting him open, forcing Cody to get 12 staples. Shortly after the chair shot, Shawn Spears later revealed that the legend, Tully Blanchard would be in his corner moving forward. The match with Cody was set, and in the contract, it allowed one corner-man for each wrestler at the PPV. AEW has teased Brandi Rhodes, Diamond Dallas Page, and MJF as options for Cody, but that leaves out his brother, Dustin Rhodes. Talk about “an enforcer” has left fans wondering if maybe it’ll be Arn Anderson, but the talk shouldn’t be about who’s going to be in Cody’s corner, it should be about these former friends turned bitter enemies. This match is about more than just one chair shot. Spears believes he’s done everything for Cody, but hasn’t’ gotten anything in return. Finally, he snapped, and now it’s time for Spears to prove himself on the big stage. So far Cody hasn’t lost in singles competition (a win over Dustin and a draw with Darby), will that streak come to an end at All Out?
AAA World Tag Team Championship, Ladder Match: The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) (c) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)
There’s a ton of matches that could steal the show, but this has to be the top contender. These two teams have faced each other all around the world, stealing the show each and every time they step in the ring. Going into Double or Nothing, The Young Bucks were the AAA Tag Champions, and they walked out with the belts. A few months later in a AAA show in Mexico, The Lucha Bros won the titles back. At Fyter Fest, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks beat Laredo Kid and The Lucha Bros, but the same match was run at AAA’s TripleMania event, which saw Laredo Kid and The Lucha Bros pick up the victory. Matt and Nick Jackson are undefeated so far in AEW, with The Lucha Bros only win being at Fight for the Fallen against SCU. “Escalera De La Muerte” literally translates to “Death Ladder”, meaning this will be a Ladder Death Match. What does that mean exactly? No idea. Only time will tell, but this match should put an end to the epic Young Bucks and Lucha Bros feud (at least for now) and could be one of those matches we’ll talk about in years to come.
PAC vs. Kenny Omega
One of the standout moments at Double or Nothing was the ending, as Jon Moxley came out after the main event and attacked Kenny Omega. Omega returned the favor at Fyter Fest, and before tickets went on sale for All Out, this match was one of the first to be announced. Fans knew this was a dream match, and they were in for a treat, however just last week, everything changed. Moxley announced on Twitter that he had an MRSA infection in his elbow, and he isn’t allowed to compete at All Out. AEW was quick to announce a replacement for Moxley, that being none other than PAC. PAC was in a similar situation at Double or Nothing, as he was supposed to face Hangman Page, however, he pulled out days before. PAC will officially be making his AEW debut at All Out, and it’s in a dream match against “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega. Some say they’re more excited for this match than Moxley vs. Omega, so AEW did a great job with the replacement. Will PAC shock the world and defeat Kenny Omega, or will Omega get redemption for his big loss on AEW’s first PPV?
AEW World Heavyweight Championship: Adam “Hangman” Page vs. Chris Jericho
Finally, the main event. This match has been building since Double or Nothing in May, where Page won the Casino Battle Royale, and Chris Jericho defeated Kenny Omega in the main event. Jericho has been waiting for a “thank you” from the AEW faithful, which he has yet to get. Page is currently 3-0 in AEW, winning the Battle Royale, a four-way at Fyter Fest, and defeating Kip Sabian recently at Fight for the Fallen. After that match with Kip, Jericho surprised everyone by coming out and attacking Hangman, busting him open above his eye. Later in the show, Jericho had a live mic, where Page came back out and got his revenge, evening the score between these two. Page is motivated, ready, and willing to do anything to become the first AEW World Champion. Everyone is counting him out, as they see Jericho as the only logical option, many don’t believe Page has a chance. At 48 years of age, Jericho looks to become the first AEW World Champion and head into AEW on TNT at the very top. When all is set and done, one of these men will leave the Sears Centre as the inaugural AEW World Champion.
