At tonight’s EVOLVE 133 event in Michigan, where former NJPW and now NXT Superstar KUSHIDA faced off against JD Drake, there was a New Japan reunion. Michigan resident Alex Shelley, KUSHIDA’s former tag team partner in Time Splitters in NJPW, appeared on the broadcast and reunited with his former partner in the ring.

Interestingly, Alex Shelley just returned to the world of professional wrestling following a one-year sabbatical, returning to Ring of Honor. He most recently challenged ROH World Champion Matt Taven for his title at the ROH Summer Supercard in Toronto at the beginning of the month.

While Shelley is best remembered as being one half of Motor City Machine Guns (whose partner Chris Sabin was recently a guest trainer at the WWE Performance Center), his union in Japan with KUSHIDA was almost equally classic. They were 2x IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.
