“The World’s Most Dangerous Man” and the first World Champion in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling history, Ken Shamrock, has been announced as returning to IMPACT Wrestling, starting with the September TV tapings in Las Vegas. After feuding with Moose on Twitter, it was revealed on Friday night that Shamrock was returning to IMPACT to continue this feud in person.

A high school stand out in football and amateur wrestling, Shamrock turned down a tryout with the NFL’s San Diego Chargers after college to pursue professional wrestling, debuting in 1989 with South Atlantic Pro Wrestling under the name of Wayne Shamrock. It wasn’t long before his aggressive style caught the eye of promoters in Japan, and he headed East to work with the Universal Wrestling Federation (UWF) in 1990. Shortly after UWF folded, he began training with Fujiwara Gumi. A shoot-style promotion, its where Shamrock first began training in what would later become known as MMA. Soon after, along with fellow students Masakatsu Funaki and Minoru Suzuki, he would leave to form the MMA-style promotion, Pancrase.
Soon after Pancrase’s formation, he would begin venturing home to the United States, where he would start taking fights with the upstart UFC. By 1996, he was working UFC full time and had left Pancrase. A year prior, he defeated Dan “The Beast” Severn in the first UFC Superfight, to become the UFC Superfight Champion, going on to become one of the most famous and feared MMA fighters in the world.
In 1997, he returned to professional wrestling, this time with the WWF. He worked for the WWF for three years, capturing the WWF Intercontinental Championship, winning the 1998 King of the Ring tournament, and winning WWF Tag Team gold with Big Boss Man. He left the WWF in 1999 to continue his MMA career.
In 2002, he made his return to the wrestling ring with the brand-new Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) where he defeated Malice (former WCW Superstar The Wall/Sgt. A-WOL) in the finals of the Gauntlet for the Gold to become the new NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion, the first World champion in TNA/IMPACT’s history. He held the title for 49 days before losing to Ron “The Truth” Killings. He left TNA shortly after his loss.

Over the next two years, he would work sporadically for NJPW, before returning for a series of matches in 2004, before leaving the wrestling world for good. But like all wrestling retirements, it didn’t stick. Following decades of decreasing big fights in the MMA world, Shamrock made his wrestling return in 2018 in Australia, parlaying it into a series of matches in the USA this year over Super Bowl weekend, and competing in Germany with Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw).
Over the past week, IMPACT’s Moose began poking Ken Shamrock on Social Media, leaving Shamrock to finally have enough.

Well, it appears that Ken Shamrock has finally had enough of Moose and will be returning in September to teach “Mr. IMPACT” a lesson.
