It was speculated for a few days, but on Friday, Jon Moxley made it official. Due to an injury to his elbow, he is forced to pull out of his August 31 match against Kenny Omega with All Elite Wrestling at AEW All Out.
I'm absolutely gutted to have to deliver this news but I'd rather it come directly from me. In a nightmare scenario, a serious case of MRSA has returned in my elbow. The timing couldn't be worse. In this circumstance I am forced to pull out of the fight 8/31 vs Omega at All Out .

It was initially reported by Dave Meltzer that Jon Moxley has been having elbow issues due to an infection he received while in Japan for the NJPW G-1 Climax, which caused several of his indie bookings of late turning into tag matches. One match, against Pentagon Jr. with Northeast Wrestling (NEW), he kept as a singles bout, but was noticeably avoiding any bumps to his elbow. Today Moxley confirmed the return of a staph infection, and that he would not be medically cleared for August 31.
So far, no replacement for Omega has been mentioned by AEW. Minutes after his first tweet, Moxley gave an update that the surgery will be quick and he’ll be back in time for AEW on TNT.
I apologize to all involved, most importantly the fans. I am incredibly frustrated and pissed off. I'll have surgery this week to remove the bursa sac in my elbow and be done with it for good. Should be a quick recovery so I will be 100% for AEW Wednesday nights on TNT.
