On Friday night at a Capital City Championship Combat (C4) Wrestling event, in what was supposed to be a night of giving back to the community and fighting for a real cause, the team of All Elite Wrestling‘s Cody Rhodes and MJF were booked for a tag match against the team of Tabernak De Team (TDT). While the team from AEW won the match and celebrated a bit, upon leaving the ring at the entranceway, MJF found himself knocked out by none other than Shawn Spears.

Spears slowly walked to the ring with a very loud crowd knowing of what was to come. The C4 Wrestling audience got a taste of what was to come when both Cody and Spears brawled with one another. Cody would quickly have the upper hand but was raked in the eye by Spears. Spears then went to grab a steel chair, reminiscent of when he chair shot Cody at Fyter Fest. MJF came in for the save as soon as Spears was about to hit Cody again.
Spears quickly exited from there. The two are set on a collision course at AEW All Out. The two have a story that stems from the beginning of their career when they were a tag team at Ohio Valley Wrestling. As time would have it, Cody wound up heading to the WWE main roster while Spears stayed back for some time and would be in and out of the company for years. That was until Spears came back at Tye Dillinger and became The Perfect 10. Unfortunately, Dillinger wound up on the main roster and was virtually never seen from there.
Dillinger left WWE earlier this year and returned to AEW as Shawn Spears at AEW Double Or Nothing. Since then, Spears signed to AEW in what was a major signing for the company. However, when asked about Spears, Cody would refer to spears as “A good hand”, words that extremely offended Spears and led him to react the way he did at Fyter Fest. On a recent episode of AEW Road to All Out, the two signed a contract for their upcoming match and on the most recent episode of AEW Road to All Out, Brandi Rhodes had a few choice words for Spears. Tonight was just the beginning to what could very well be an absolute war in just a couple of weeks.
