On August 26, 2012, Revolution Pro was founded in London, England, becoming an integral part of the UK indie wrestling boom of the past decade. This Sunday, RevPro celebrates seven years of operation with their 7th Anniversary Show, which is highlighted by a stop on NJPW Legend Jushin Thunder Liger‘s farewell tour, plus PAC vs. Matt Sydal. The show will be available on-demand next week on RevPro’s On Demand service.
Dan Moloney vs. Kurtis Chapman
22-year old Don Moloney was a part of the first WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament but departed NXT UK just as it launched last year. Since then, he’s been on a mission to re-invent himself and its been a great success. Kurtis Chapman has been one of the great underrated performers of the UK indie scene from the past few years, as the RevPro regular since 2014 is a regular star and former RevPro British Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion (a title he held for 154-days).
Sha Samuels vs. Gabriel Kidd
A longtime star with Scotland’s Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW), Sha Samuels had his strongest presence with RevPro this year – he’s currently tag team champion for a third time, alongside Josh Bodom. He recently had a dark match with NXT UK, but right now is focused on being the best in RevPro. His opponent was one of Defiant Wrestling‘s young stars, who departed the company just before its sudden demise, in Gabriel Kidd. He was invited to join the Los Angeles NJPW Dojo by none other than head trainer Katsuyori Shibata, so working with NJPW ally RevPro is a logical next step in his development. This will be a hoss match.
A-Kid vs. Carlos Romo
Spain’s Team Whitewolf implodes, as the two tag team partners face off against each other in what could be the darkhorse matches of the night. A-Kid was one of 2018’s breakout international stars, who is one of the most underrated high flyers in the world today. His partner (and opponent) is Carlos Romo, who initially broke into the UK scene back in 2017 as Adam Chase, one of Spain’s finest prospects of the past five years.
Mark Haskins vs. Chris Brookes
Ring of Honor’s Mark Haskins returns to the UK indie scene on Sunday. The 3x International Pro Wrestling (IPW) World Champion and PROGRESS World Champion was an integral part of the BritWres boom of the past five years. He faces one of the undisputed faces of the new school of BritWres in Chris Brookes. A perennial player for years as part of CCK with Kid Lykos and Jonathan Gresham, over the past year or so, Brookes has emerged as a standout singles star who is no longer simply defined by his tag team. Although he has started a new stable, Schadenfreude, featuring Aussie Open, Timothy Thatcher, Jonathan Gresham, Lucky Kid, and NXT UK’s WALTER and Jinny.
Mike “Speedball” Bailey vs. David Starr
Canada’s Mike “Speedball” Bailey fell off the radar somewhat in North America due to his US Visa issues, but in Europe and Asia, he’s become a superstar. He’s a regular with DDT Pro in Japan and works the UK indie scene with great fervor. The athletic Speedball will be facing one of the top indie stars in the world. David Starr has taken the international indie scene by storm, being a major player in both the UK and Germany, while remaining one of the top stars in his native US indie scene. This could be an instant classic.
Bullet Club (El Phantasmo & Hikuleo) vs. Jushin Thunder Liger & Michael Oku
Bullet Club makes a rare appearance in the UK (its normally Suzuki-gun territory), but one of the representatives, El Phantasmo, is no stranger to the UK indie scene, or Revolution Pro. Alongside his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team gold, ELP is also the reigning RevPro Undisputed British Cruiserweight Champion and the winner of last year’s British J Cup, featuring stars from NJPW and RevPro. He’s teaming up with Hikuleo, the younger (but bigger) brother of Guerrillas of Destiny whose made a huge comeback from a lengthy injury. Their opponents feature one of the men that El Phantasmo defeated in last year’s British J Cup – legendary New Japan icon Jushin Thunder Liger. After defeating ROH’s Bandido in the opening round, he shocked everyone by knocking off Liger in the second. With this probably be Liger’s farewell match with RevPro before his January retirement, it will be interesting to see if Liger can settle the score. Liger is teaming up with one of the UK scene’s hottest young prospects in Michael Oku – better known as The OJMO. An athletic specimen, OJMO is one to watch in 2020.
PAC vs. Matt Sydal
Now that he’s lost his Dragon Gate World title, PAC is even more of a miserable bastard than he was before. But it definitely throws more unpredictability into his encounters elsewhere. He’s been facing some world-class high flyers the past year, and on Sunday he takes on one of the US indie scenes veterans in former IMPACT X-Division Champion Matt Sydal (formerly Evan Borne in WWE). It will be the rematch for these two, who have faced each other only once before in singles action – when Sydal scored the win over PAC at Ring of Honor’s Fifth Year Festival Finale in 2007.
