On Sunday night at Dragon Gate‘s Kobe Pro-Wrestling Festival 2019, it was a tough day for the faction R.E.D. While Big R Shimizu & Eita won the group the Open the Twin Gate (Tag Team) titles from Tribe Vanguard (KAI & YAMATO) in a triple threat match, the group lost two other titles on the day. KAZMA SAKAMOTO, Takashi Yoshida & Yasushi Kanda lost their Open the Triangle Gate (6-Man Tag) titles to the Strong Machines early in the event, but it was the main event that was the most shocking.

In a stunning result, following a hard-hitting affair, Ben-K defeated his former stablemate PAC to capture the Open the Dream Gate (World Heavyweight) Championship. Ben-K is coming off a stellar match last month at King’s Gate, where he defeated KZY in a classic.

Now that PAC has lost Dragon Gate’s main title, it will be interesting to see how he’s booked elsewhere around the world, as reports have indicated that Dragon Gate did not want their champion to lose (or lose clean) to any opponents in other promotions. It should also free up any concerns for his eventual return to All Elite Wrestling. With his defeat, PAC’s reign as Open the Dream Gate Champion ends at 229 days.
