SO much to be excited for on this weeks episode the debut of Jordan Myles (fka ACH), Damian Priest looking to further establish that he is NXT’s next breakout star, and the first proper title defense for the NXT Tag Team Champions The Street Profits. Join me as we kick off this week with “The Genius of the Sky” Io Shirai. This is your NXT recap.
NXT Recap: THE GENIUS OF THE SKY NEEDS NO ONE AND THE DREAM “ANSWERS” QUESTIONS
This marked the first time Io Shirai has appeared on NXT since her brutal beatdown of Candice Lerae. She made her way to the ring complete with new entrance, music, and chants of Io sucks. While Shirai kept it very brief, simply stating, “I don’t need friends…I don’t need any of you!!”, it did its job of establishing she was not only turning her back on Candice and any other “friendships” she had but that she was abandoning the fans who have supported her since she arrived in the Mae Young Classic.
Velveteen Dream hosted a press conference stating he would answer the questions of the WWE Universe, only to take two questions; avoiding the first and simply stating that Roderick Strong was not ready to experience the Dream one on one and Roddy simply got lucky a few weeks ago.
NXT Recap: DAMIAN PRIEST BLASTS BLANCO LOCO AND THE BEAST OF BELFAST IS COMING
Blanco never stood a chance, this was entirely about “The Archer of Infamy” as he was labeled this week establishing himself as a future player of NXT. Loco was only able to land a right hand, but Priest continues to show his hard-hitting offense. He finished off Loco with a cyclone kick, followed by his take on the rolling cutter “The Reckoning”.
This match was followed by another brilliant vignette for “The Beast of Belfast” Killian Dain. Dain went far more in-depth this week speaking of his house being set on fire with him in it, car bombs exploding in his street, him being the only surviving male from his high school class, and a few others. Every word Dain said dripped with emotion as he stated he doesn’t repress his memories but wears them like badges of honor.
He ended this week again stating everything he had was taken from him, and now he takes anything and EVERYTHING he wants.
NXT Recap: JORDAN MYLES ADVANCES IN THE BREAKOUT TOURNAMENT
The wrestler formerly known as ACH, and my pick to win the tournament, took on the lesser known Boa in tonight NXT Breakout tournament match-up.
While Myles had more notoriety, it was Boa who controlled the majority of the contest with rest holds, stiff strikes (including a nice axe kick while Myles was in the ropes), and making use of his size advantage. Myles battled back taking control of the match with his more agile and varied offense.
Myles picked up the win following a discuss clothesline in the corner and a 450 splash from the top rope. He advances to the next round to face off with Angel Garza, in what is sure to be one of the highlights of the tournament.
NXT Recap: THE STREET PROFITS RETAIN AGAINST THE BRIT A BRAWLERS
This week’s main event featured The Street Profits paying back the favor they owed Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch for saving them from a beat-down a few weeks ago in the form of a title shot.
The early portion of this match was highlighted by the increased confidence of the champions improving their offense such as sending Lorcan into Burch with a flapjack, followed by a double bonzai drop to both brawlers. After rolling out of the ring briefly Burch gained control of the match for the Brit-Am Brawlers with his trade mak=rk strikes on Dawkins.
After Ford broke up a submission attempt by kicking Burch in the back, Burch unloaded a series of vicious strikes on Dawkins. It was that anger though that ultimately lead to Dawkins suplexing Burch and tagging in Ford. Following a series of offense from the champions, The Street Profits attempted a Doomsday Device but were stopped by Burch.
The two teams continued to trade control of the match, but Ultimately the Street Profits capitalized on Dawkins countering Lorcan suicide dive with an uppercut, following it up with the spinebuster/frogsplash combination for the win.
While the champions celebrated their successful title defense, The Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish taunted from the entrance ramp mockingly clapping the champions match.
