Who Bad? We Bad: Polo Promotions To Reunite For ICW Show

Polo Promotions

It’s been one week since the tragic passing of current Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) World Heavyweight Championship Adrian “Lionheart” McCallum. As a tribute to Adrian, a special tag team main event in his honor will be presented at ICW’s upcoming Fight Club tapings on July 6th as The Kinky Party (Jack Jester and Sha Samuels) collide with the reunited Polo Promotions (Jackie Polo and Mark Coffey).

Polo Promotions To Reunite For ICW Show

When you think of tag team wrestling within ICW, the one team that immediately springs to mind is Polo Promotions. While DCT and Coach Trip would also become members during the group’s tenure, Jackie Polo and Mark Coffey were the main duo, becoming synonymous with the ICW Tag Team Championships.

Their first appearance in an ICW ring came in May 2014 at Up And Atom against Joe Hendry and Kenny Williams. Within six months of them stepping foot in the Insane Fight Club, Polo and Coffey had lifted the tag titles after besting The Hooligans (Brian Kendrick and Paul London) at the seventh annual Fear & Loathing event. This title reign would go on to become the longest in history at 413 days. Following successful defences against the likes of Colt Cabana, Noam Dar, and Tommy End (now Aleister Black), Polo Promotions would be usurped by The 55 (Kid Fite and Sha Samuels) in December 2015.

Following a brief departure from ICW after they won their second set of tag titles, they made a surprise return at Shug’s Hoose Party III to confront the newly-crowned champs The Local Fire (Joe Hendry and Davey Boy), leading to a Ladder Match to crown the undisputed champs. With Jackie and Mark regaining the straps, things appeared to be on the up for them again, especially after they defeated the legendary Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) at ICW’s first show in Glasgow’s SSE Hydro in November 2016. Despite that, they would lose the championships to The Marauders (Mike Bird and Wild Boar) at the 2017 Square Go!

The pair got back on the same page after a bit of dissension due to this loss, resulting in them defeating Bird, Boar, and Iestyn Rees the following summer to not only earn another crack at the championships, but to also keep their ICW careers intact. A brief two month reign with the titles from November 2017-January 2018 would mark the end of Polo Promotions in ICW as we knew it. Jackie Polo moved into a rivalry with Lionheart that saw him capture the World Heavyweight Championship from former ally DCT after introducing his Just Justice persona, while Mark Coffey became a three-time Zero-G Champion. More recently, Coffey has been leading three masked attackers in a group known as The Power Forward.

Now though, Polo Promotions are back for this very special main event come July 6th. In the meantime, please consider donating to the funeral fund for Lionheart that was set up by ICW. If you want just a glimpse of how much Hearto meant to everyone, the £6,000 goal that was set was broken in the same day, and is now sitting at £16,000+ at the time of writing. An incredible amount raised to help with his funeral.
